Hotel artwork suppliers: hand-painted originals for every room type

iHomeArt supplies hand-painted hotel artwork to hotel groups, operators, owners' representatives and brand design teams, for guest-room programmes of 100 to 400 keys, PIP renovations and the public spaces around them. Each floor gets its own family of related originals, proven first in your mock-up room, then painted in batches and delivered labelled room by room for the installers.

How do hotel artwork suppliers keep 300 rooms related but never repeated?

By working in families: a few source works, each painted again as related versions and colourways, then rotated floor by floor so no two neighbouring rooms match.

Pictured: two different catalogue works in one manner, in the same room. Decide how far your rooms should differ, then build the schedule around it:

ApproachHow a floor readsSuits
One design in every keyThe same composition throughout; each canvas is still painted by hand, so the brushwork shifts a little from room to roomPIP renovations and brand kits
A family per floor or wingThree or four related versions of one source work, in one or two colourways, rotated along the corridorMost full-service programmes
A different work in every roomMany catalogue works held together by one style and one paletteSuite floors and luxury properties

How many keys can one design carry? As many as the schedule needs. Vary one source work into four related versions, paint each in two colourways, and you hold eight paintings that belong together: across a floor of 30 keys no two neighbours match, and the brand reviewer walking the floor sees a series, not copies. Five or six source works can carry a 300-key hotel.

We shortlist source works from your scheme board, out of some 1,300 catalogue designs, and mix the colourways to your paint codes and fabrics. When the property should have art of its own, built around its city or its story, we design it with you, as far as the budget and brief allow.

What hotel bedroom artwork suits each room type?

Plan by room type rather than room by room: each type gets its positions, its format and a size, and the families supply the pictures.

Hold the programme to two or three canvas sizes: framing, packing and hanging run faster when installers handle the same few boxes. Any size can be painted, so the grid follows your elevations.

Can one order also cover the lobby, corridors, restaurants and spa?

Yes. Public-area pieces go on the same quote as the guest rooms and count toward the same volume pricing; each space is specified in its own way, and each has its own page.

Hand-painted or printed: which suits art for hotel rooms at volume?

Prints suit a brief for identical images at the lowest unit cost; hand-painted originals earn their place when rooms should differ, fit their walls exactly and stay re-orderable for years.

When hotel art suppliers quote guest rooms in prints, that can be sensible for a short-life refresh. What a hand-painted programme gives a group instead:

Each room
An original, with brushwork and texture that hold up under bedside lighting and in guests' photographs.
Fit
Each work is resized to its wall and recoloured to the scheme, rather than cropped and scaled.
Approval
You approve the painting itself, stage by stage, from photos or video, rather than a printer's proof.
Later
Painted to order rather than stocked, so the same specification can be painted again for a later phase or another hotel.

Texture shows the difference most: browse textured, Impressionist and abstract works, or start from a calming mood.

What moves the hotel room artwork budget per key?

How many positions each key has, the size grid, the surface, the finish and the total count, with shipping quoted on top; we price each programme from its schedule.

Positions
One piece over the bed, or a second at the desk or in the entry: across 300 keys a second position nearly doubles the order, so settle it room type by room type.
Size
The price follows the canvas area. Hold the standard rooms to two or three sizes and spend where guests linger, in the suites.
Surface
Plaster relief and thick knife-work take more paint and drying time than flat brushwork.
Finish
Rolled costs least, stretched more, framed most.
Volume
Volume pricing from 10 pieces, counted across the whole programme: keys, suites, corridors and public areas together.
Shipping
Quoted separately. Express suits the mock-up and small batches; a large run may go by air or sea freight. We confirm the cost before dispatch.

Rolled or framed, for 300 pieces? Framed canvases travel in large boxes with corner protection, so 300 of them take real space and cost the most to ship. Rolled, the same paintings go in tubes at a fraction of the volume, and leave sooner because nothing is stretched or framed first. The work then moves to site, where a local framer stretches and frames every canvas: ask how many a week they can turn out before you decide. Many programmes roll the standard rooms and frame the suites. Plaster relief and heavy texture travel stretched or framed, unless you agree to a thinner texture that rolls.

What should the mock-up room prove before the run is released?

That the art works with everything else in the room, under its own lighting, and that it arrives the way the run will arrive.

The minimum order is one piece, so the mock-up piece is simply the first order: painted at full size, in the finish the run will use. Hang it and check:

  • Scale against the headboard, the lamps and the ceiling height.
  • Colour against the bedding, curtains and carpet, by daylight and again at night with the room lights on.
  • Frame against the joinery and the metal finishes.
  • Arrival: the packing, the label and the hanging fixings, so the installers try them before 300 more arrive.

Brand standards, the owner's representative and the designer often all sign off: we copy everyone on your list on the stage photos, and one named approver keeps the run moving. Once signed, the mock-up piece becomes the reference every later piece is checked against.

How do 300 pieces arrive in step with the installers?

In batches, painted in the order your floors are fitted out, labelled by room, each batch with its own date in the quote.

Send the install programme with the art schedule, and plan for the last batch to land with a margin before soft opening, so there is time to put anything right before the first guests arrive.

  1. Schedule inRoom types, positions, sizes, the finish per zone, palette references and the install order.
  2. Quote with batch datesA price for every position and a delivery date for each batch.
  3. Mock-up approvedThe first piece is painted, approved stage by stage and hung before the run begins.
  4. Floors in orderBatches are painted floor by floor in install order; stage photos arrive family by family for approval.
  5. Labelled by roomEach piece carries its room number and position from your schedule, and boxes are packed floor by floor.
  6. Shipped per batchBy DHL, FedEx or UPS express, or by air or sea freight for a large batch, booked to land before the installers reach that floor.

Can hotel artwork suppliers repeat a run for phase two, replacements or the next property?

Yes. Every piece is painted to order from a catalogue code, so an approved specification can be painted again, in the same size, colourway and finish, whenever you need it.

Phase two
A wing or tower that opens later is ordered from the same schedule and painted against the photographs of the approved mock-up.
Replacements
A damaged or stained piece in year three is painted again from its line on the schedule. Some groups add a few spares of each design to the first run as attic stock.
Next property
Keep the families and shift the palette for the new city, or start a fresh shortlist.
Brand standards
Brand and in-house design teams can write the code, size, colourway and finish into the design guide; owners and their procurement agents then order against it, and the brand team can be copied on every stage photo.

Painted by hand, a re-order is a close sibling rather than a clone; the approved reference keeps every batch inside the family.

PIP renovation, casino resort or all-inclusive: what changes?

The method stays the same, with families, a mock-up and dated batches; what changes is how much the rooms repeat, how many venues share the order and how the phases fall.

Boutique, resort, aparthotel or a Gulf hotel: which page fits yours?

Each kind of property buys art in its own way, so each has its own page.

Hotel art programmes: questions from groups and design teams

Can you work from our designer's art concept or FF&E spec images?

Yes. Send the concept board or spec images and we match each position to catalogue works, recoloured and resized to the schedule, or design new work around the concept. A spec image of an existing painting can be painted as a hand-painted reproduction; if the work is still in copyright, the rights holder's permission comes first.

Can the guest rooms show our city, our building or our own photography?

Yes, and it is one of the surest ways to give a branded hotel a sense of place. Send photographs of the skyline, the façade, a landmark or the brand's own library, and they are painted by hand on canvas, as one piece or a series for a floor. See paintings from your own image.

How far ahead of opening should hotel art be ordered?

Order the mock-up piece as soon as the mock-up room is built, and release the run once it is signed off. Send the opening date and install programme with your enquiry: the quote dates each batch, so you see at once whether the schedule holds, and where a rolled finish or an earlier release would buy time.

Can we order art for several hotels in different countries?

Yes. Each property is quoted and shipped as its own order, with its own batches and delivery date, so a group refreshing three hotels in one season can brief them together and approve every stage the same way. We arrange the carrier for each order and confirm the shipping cost before dispatch.

Can you deliver to our FF&E consolidator or the contractor's store?

Yes. Put the address on the schedule, whether site, a consolidator's warehouse or the fit-out contractor's store, and we book the carrier and send tracking for each batch. The room and position labels stay on every piece through the move from warehouse to site. Buying through an agent? See FF&E procurement agents.

What if pieces arrive damaged just before opening?

Careful packing and trusted carriers keep damage rare, with a return rate under 0.01%. Should a piece arrive marked or broken, photograph it and its box the day the batch is opened; we raise the claim with the carrier and agree the remedy with you, a replacement or a refund for instance.

Can a luxury programme be painted in oil rather than acrylic?

Yes. Acrylic on canvas is the standard and keeps batches moving; oil is painted on request, and some luxury properties choose it for the depth of its colour. Tell us at the start, as oil needs longer to dry before it can travel, and the dates in the quote will allow for it.
