Custom & commission
Custom paintings from your photo or brief
Send us a photograph, a view, a designer’s render, a painting to reproduce or only a palette, and we paint it by hand on canvas at the size your wall needs, for one room or a whole property. Or start from any work in the catalogue and change its size, colours or composition. You see every stage in photos or video before the next one starts, and approve the finished painting before it ships.

Seven ways to start a custom painting
From your own image
Send a photo or picture you own and it is painted as an original on canvas: a view, your building, a portrait, a pet, a render.
Resize a catalogue work
Any catalogue piece in any dimensions, including panoramic and oversized formats for lobbies and stairwells. The painter redraws the composition to your proportions rather than stretching it.
Recolour it
The same composition in your palette. Send fabric, paint or stone references and the colours are mixed to them.
Vary it into a series
A set built off one piece, so a corridor or a floor of rooms reads as related without repeating the same canvas.
Reproduce a painting
A painting you want copied, repainted by hand at your size and, if you like, in your palette. Works still in copyright need the rights holder’s permission.
Commission from a brief
No picture yet: describe the room, the mood and the palette, or send a mood board. A sketch is approved before painting starts.
Master works
Pieces by our senior partnered artists are the exception: kept exactly as painted, with no resizing or recolouring, and each quoted individually.
Can you paint a custom painting from my photo?
Yes. Send any image you own or have permission to use, and it is painted by hand on canvas, never printed. These are the pictures trade buyers send most:
-
Catalogue IA#825 A photo of a place
The view from a suite, a city skyline, a harbour, the beach a resort sits on. A local view per floor or room type gives a property art that belongs to it rather than to a catalogue.
-
Catalogue MA#486 Your building or property
The façade, the lobby, the garden, or an archive photograph of the building as it once was: for receptions, boardrooms and corridors that tell a property’s own story.
-
Catalogue AA#187 Your logo, crest or brand pattern
Painted as an artwork rather than as signage: a hotel’s crest above reception, a monogram worked into an abstract, the brand’s pattern and colours carried through a corridor series.
-
Catalogue CA#964 People
A family portrait for a private residence, a founder or chairman for a head office. Faces from several photos can be brought together in one scene.
-
Catalogue CA#201 Pets and animals
The client’s dog for a villa, a family’s horses, a racehorse for a members’ club, painted from your own photographs.
-
Catalogue AA#1229 A render, sketch or mood board
Send the CGI with the artwork shown in it, an elevation with the wall marked, or a board of images and colours. We paint the piece the render implies, at the size the wall needs.
-
Catalogue HA#185 A painting to reproduce
An existing painting copied by hand at the size you need: an old master for a library, or a work from a collection that cannot travel. It is painted, never printed.
-
Catalogue CA#949 An AI-generated image
Painted like any other picture, by hand and at full size, as long as you hold the rights to use it. Odd hands, garbled lettering and repeated objects can be corrected in the drawing.
Pictured: catalogue works with a subject of each kind.
No picture at all? Send only colours, such as paint codes, a fabric, a stone or a carpet sample, and we build an abstract or a variation of a catalogue work around them.
Will the painting look exactly like the photo?
No, and that is what makes it a painting: it is drawn and painted by hand, so edges soften, colour is mixed rather than printed, and the surface carries brushwork.
A painter can also change what a camera cannot:
- Remove what spoils the picture: wires, cars, signs, passers-by.
- Change the season, the weather or the time of day, from a grey afternoon to a sunset.
- Recompose to the wall: a square phone photo becomes a long panoramic over a bed or a tall canvas beside a lift.
- Shift the palette towards the room’s scheme, or add thick, textured paint where you want the surface to stand out.
Very small lettering keeps the mark of the hand. If text must be crisp, say so in the brief.
Which style can my photo be painted in?
Any of the styles in the catalogue. Name a catalogue work as the reference, and your picture is painted in that manner. Four examples from the catalogue:
-
Impressionist IA#1202 Loose, visible brushwork. Suits views, streets and cities, where atmosphere matters more than detail. All impressionist →
-
Hyperrealist HA#027 Smooth, exact and close to the photograph. Suits portraits of people and animals. All hyperrealism →
-
Colourful CA#1162 Bold, saturated colour and simplified shapes. Suits pets, children’s rooms and playful F&B spaces. All colorful →
-
Textured TA#015 Paint built up with a knife so waves, foam and leaves stand off the canvas. Suits coasts and landscapes. All textured & plaster →
How does a custom painting order work?
- Send the image and the briefOn WhatsApp, with the quote form or by email: the picture, the size and quantity, the finish, and where and when it must arrive.
- Quote within one business dayA price and a delivery date for each piece. Painting starts once you accept the quote and pay 50% against the proforma invoice.
- Composition approvedThe layout is confirmed at your proportions before paint goes on. Commissions and larger runs start with a sketch or a sample piece.
- Painted in stagesPhotos or video at each stage. The next stage starts only after you approve, so changes are made while they are still easy.
- Final photograph approvedA full photograph of the finished painting is sent before it is packed. Once you approve it, the remaining 50% is paid and the piece is packed for shipping.
- ShippedWe book DHL, FedEx or UPS on the best route for your address, confirm the shipping cost with you before dispatch, and send the tracking number.
What should a custom painting brief include?
The image, the size and quantity, the finish, and where and when it has to arrive. That is enough for a quote.
A brief can be as short as this, typed into WhatsApp or an email. Attach the photo as a document so it arrives uncompressed.
For a run, add a label for each piece (room or floor) so the canvases arrive marked for the installers.
Can you paint a series for a hotel or a whole property?
Yes. Every copy in a run is painted from the same image, composition and colour notes, so the set reads as one, while each canvas is still painted by hand and differs slightly in brushwork.
- Start with a sample or a first piece and approve it before the run is painted.
- Every canvas is photographed, so you can compare them side by side before they ship.
- One view can be painted in several sizes, for a lobby, a lift lobby and the rooms, or varied piece by piece along a corridor (see corridor series and guest-room programmes).
- Volume pricing starts at 10 pieces. Rooms added later are painted to the same approved brief.
What sizes and finishes can a custom painting have?
Any size: the composition is redrawn to the wall, including oversized single canvases and sets of panels (see oversized art).
- Rolled
- The lightest to ship and the lowest-cost way to buy, if you frame locally.
- Stretched
- Ready to hang, on a frameless stretcher.
- Framed
- In gold, silver, black, white or wood, boxed with hanging hooks.
3D plaster and deep relief work ships stretched or framed, because rolling cracks it, unless you agree to a texture made thin enough to roll.
How much does a custom painting cost?
Each custom painting is priced for its own size, detail and finish. Send us the picture and you will usually have your quote within one business day.
- Size
- The price follows canvas area.
- Detail
- A portrait with several faces or a detailed façade takes longer than a seascape of the same size.
- Surface
- Thick knife-laid texture and sculpted relief use more paint and drying time than flat brushwork.
- Finish
- Rolled costs least, stretched more, framed the most.
- Quantity
- Volume pricing from 10 pieces, whether one design is repeated or several are mixed.
Shipping is quoted separately: we find the best route for your address and order and confirm the cost before the piece ships.

Custom painting FAQs
Is a custom painting from a photo hand-painted or printed?
Hand-painted. Every custom piece is painted by hand in acrylic on canvas (oil on request); nothing is printed, and nothing is painted over a print. The photos or video you receive at each stage show the canvas being painted.
Which images can’t be painted?
Only ones you have no right to use. The image has to be yours, or you need the owner’s permission.
- A photograph taken by a professional, such as a wedding or architectural photographer, usually belongs to the photographer. Ask them first.
- A painting still in copyright can be reproduced only with the rights holder’s permission. We do not paint other companies’ logos, characters or trademarks.
- We do not paint a celebrity’s likeness for display in a business.
- For an AI-generated image, the generator’s licence must allow you to use it commercially.
Not sure? Send the image with a line about where it came from, and we tell you before quoting.
What makes a good photo for a painting?
The sharper and better lit the photo, the more the painter has to work from, but send what you have: we say what can be painted from it before quoting.
- Send the original file. A screenshot or a social-media copy loses detail. On WhatsApp, attach the photo as a document so it is not compressed, or attach it to the quote form or an email.
- Daylight and focus. The subject in focus and filling the frame; for people and animals, faces clear and eyes visible.
- More than one angle. Extra photos of a building, a person or a pet show the painter what the main photo hides.
- Say what matters. Tell us what must stay and what can go: the parked cars, the scaffolding, the person at the edge of the frame.
- Colour in daylight. Photograph a fabric or paint sample in daylight next to a sheet of white paper; screens shift colour.
- Old or small photos. A scan or a photo of a printed photo works. Take it flat, in daylight, without glare.
Acrylic or oil: which is better for a painting from a photo?
Acrylic is the standard: it dries quickly, keeps colour well and can be rolled for shipping once dry. Oil paint is available on request and gives softer blends and a deeper sheen; it takes longer to dry, so mention it with the brief and the delivery date is set to allow for it.
Can a custom painting match a Pantone, RAL or paint-brand colour?
Yes. Colours are mixed by hand to the code or the physical sample you send, and you check them in the first stage photos before the painting goes further. Send a daylight photo of the sample next to white paper as well as the code: screens shift colour, and the photo shows what the code looks like in your light.
Can you paint our hotel’s logo or crest as a painting?
Yes. Your own logo, crest, monogram or brand pattern can be painted as an artwork, by hand on canvas: on its own, worked into an abstract, or carried through a series. Send the original artwork file and your brand colour codes, and the colours are mixed to them.
Can a custom design be made exclusive to us?
Yes, if it is agreed in advance. Ask for exclusivity when you request the quote, and the terms are settled before painting starts.
Can a small or low-resolution photo be painted large?
Usually, yes. A painter does not enlarge pixels: the picture is redrawn at the size of the canvas, so a phone photo can become a large painting. What a soft or small photo limits is fine detail, such as faces at a distance or lettering. Send it and we say what can be painted from it before quoting.
Can several people, pets or places from different photos go into one painting?
Yes. Send each photo and say who or what goes where. The painter composes them into one scene with matching light and scale, and you approve that layout before painting starts.
Can I order one custom painting first and more later?
Yes. The minimum order is one piece, and a first piece is the usual way to check a design before a run. Rooms added later are painted to the same approved brief; volume pricing starts at 10 pieces.
What is the difference between a painting from a photo and a canvas print of it?
A canvas print reproduces the photo’s pixels in ink, flat and at whatever quality the file has. A painting is redrawn and painted by hand: the surface has brushwork or texture you can see and touch, colour is mixed rather than printed, and the picture itself can be changed, recomposed to the wall or cleared of what spoils it.
Can a custom painting be framed before it ships?
Yes: stretched and framed in gold, silver, black, white or wood, and boxed with hanging hooks so it is ready to hang. Rolled canvas is the lighter option to ship if you frame locally. 3D plaster and deep relief work ships stretched or framed, not rolled.
What if the custom painting isn’t right?
Changes are made at the stage approvals, while the paint is still going on. That is why every stage is photographed and nothing moves on without your approval.
Because you approve a photograph of the finished painting before it is packed, finished pieces are not returnable. Damage in transit is rare: our return rate is under 0.01%. If it happens, send photos; we take the claim up with the carrier and work out a solution with you, such as a replacement or a refund (see shipping and logistics).
