Art production for art consultants, painted to the approved schedule

iHomeArt supplies art production for art consultants and advisory firms: original canvases, painted by hand, for the 20 to 300-plus positions on a schedule that a hotel, corporate or private client has approved. Catalogue works and your own commissioned briefs go on one order, and every stage photo comes to you first, so you can forward it to the client before you approve.

How does art production for art consultants start from an approved deck?

With the presentation the client signed off and a position list: each line is painted as a new original that keeps what was approved: a subject, a palette or a way of painting.

Send the deck as it went to the client, with one row per position: where it hangs, the wall size and the image you showed. Say what is fixed and what the painter may decide: “keep the palette and the loose brushwork, change the subject to the coastline” is a brief a painter can work to.

References come in four kinds, and each becomes a different line on the order:

  • A catalogue work you proposed, ordered by its code, as painted or at a new size.
  • A mood image, such as a photograph, fabric or interior: it sets colour and feeling, and the painter composes a new picture.
  • An artist's way of painting, followed in new work; where the line sits is explained further down.
  • The client's own material: a view, a building, an archive photograph or a crest, painted from their own image.

Deck still being written? Send the brief and photos of the walls, and we shortlist catalogue works per position, or design pieces for the project as its budget allows.

Hotel, corporate or private client: what changes in the production?

We produce art for art consultants the same way for every client; what changes is the volume, how much repeats, and who has to be won over by the stage photos.

Art consultants for hospitality buy in the largest numbers to the tightest windows; corporate programmes turn on brand colour and a few walls that must impress; private clients buy fewer, larger pieces and study every brushstroke. Say in the brief which it is.

The deck shows another artist's work. What can be painted from it?

A new original in that artist's manner, yes; a copy of a particular work still in copyright, only with the rights holder's permission.

Consultants often show a living artist's work to set a direction: the palette, the size of the marks, the way a figure dissolves into its ground. A manner can be followed; a particular picture belongs to the person who made it. So the painter's brief becomes “a new composition, in this palette, with this handling”, and the result is a new work.

When the client has fallen for one specific painting, there are three good routes:

  • Ask the rights holder. With the artist's or the estate's written permission, the work is reproduced by hand at the size the wall needs.
  • Choose a painting out of copyright. Works by artists who died long ago (in most countries, over 70 years) can usually be reproduced; IA#047, pictured, is painted after a famous starry night over a river from the 1880s.
  • Commission a sibling: a new picture in the same manner, sized and coloured for the room.

Mood-board photographs work the same way: the photographer usually owns the picture, so it guides colour and feeling, not composition. Unsure about a reference? Send it with a line on where it came from, and we tell you before quoting.

Can one schedule mix catalogue works with commissioned art production?

Yes: each line on the schedule takes its own route, and the whole schedule is quoted, approved and delivered as one order.

Spend the commission budget where the client will stand and look, and build the repeated positions from catalogue works, some 1,300 of them, each painted to order.

For the repeated lines, browse abstract, Impressionist and textured works.

Write the voice down once, as a short key that every line is painted and checked against, and approve one lead piece for each family of works before the rest are painted.

On a large schedule every piece is painted and approved stage by stage, so the voice has to live in the brief rather than in anyone's memory. Five lines are enough:

  • Palette: three to six colours as physical references, plus any that must stay out.
  • Handling: soft brushwork, knife-laid paint, flat colour fields or plaster relief, and how heavy.
  • Subjects: what may change from piece to piece.
  • Scale of mark: broad gestures for a lobby seen from the door, finer work for a room seen from a chair.
  • Presentation: frameless throughout, or one frame family.

The two works pictured show the idea: different subjects, one palette of cream on warm brown, one loose figurative hand. A schedule can hold several voices, such as quiet Wabi-Sabi in the bedrooms and bold abstracts in public areas, each with its own key and lead piece.

Can art production be costed before the client signs off?

Yes: send the draft schedule and every line comes back priced, so the presentation can carry real figures, with your fee added on your side.

Consultants often want two prices for one position: the commission the deck proposes and a catalogue-based alternative, so the client decides where to spend. What moves each line:

Route
A catalogue work as painted is the simplest line; a commission takes more of the painter's time.
Size
The price follows the canvas area.
Surface
Plaster relief and heavy knife work take more material and drying time.
Finish
Rolled costs least, and sending it to your own framer keeps framing, and its margin, in your hands. Stretched costs more, framed the most.
Quantity
Volume pricing from 10 pieces, counted across the whole schedule.
Shipping
Quoted separately and confirmed before dispatch.

Your fee appears nowhere in our paperwork.

How is art production scheduled against the install date?

Plan back from the install day: order each zone as soon as the client approves it, and the quote for that zone states its delivery date.

A large schedule may go by air or sea freight rather than express; the quote says which, and when it lands. Plaster and heavily textured pieces travel stretched or framed, so plan their install with the framed work, not with the rolled canvases going to your framer.

  1. Priced scheduleEvery line priced, with alternatives where you asked, before or after the presentation.
  2. Zone orderedThe day the client approves it, with 50% against the proforma. Zones still under discussion wait without holding up the rest.
  3. Lead piecesOne piece per family is painted first; once approved, it is the reference for that family.
  4. Stages approvedPhotos or video of each stage reach you first. Forward, comment, approve: then the next stage starts.
  5. Final photographsYou approve each finished piece from its photograph; the balance is paid and it is packed rolled, stretched or framed.
  6. Delivered as you directTo the site, the installer, the contractor's store or your framer, by express or freight, cost confirmed first.

Which stage photos can you forward to the client?

Any of them: the photos and video of each stage come to you, and you decide what the client sees, and when.

A pattern that works on large schedules: you approve every stage, and the client sees two moments, the composition of each commission and the finished canvas. The client shares the decisions that matter without every stage becoming a meeting.

  • Agree a turnaround. Each stage waits for approval, so a week's silence on one zone moves that zone's date by a week.
  • One approver per zone. Three people commenting on one photo pull a painting three ways.
  • Ask for the view the client needs: a close-up of a plaster surface, the canvas beside a fabric sample, a short video in raking light. Say so with the order.
  • Keep the final photographs. One per piece, approved before dispatch: a ready record for the handover file.

Will an art consultancy production partner stay behind you?

Yes: we work for your practice, and the client hears from us only if you introduce us.

The quote, the proforma invoice, the stage photos and the shipping updates all come to you. The client's name appears where you put it, usually as a delivery address, and the pieces go to the site, the installer or your framer as you instruct.

A design commissioned for one client can be kept exclusive to that client if it is agreed before painting starts; ask with the quote. When the client opens a second property, the schedule can be painted again from the same codes and approved references, or shifted so the new building reads as a sibling. If your firm also frames and installs hotel art packages, see hospitality art companies.

What can you tell the client about who paints the work?

That every piece is an original, painted by hand to order by iHomeArt's studio painters, and that iHomeArt is the trade channel of Siji Art Hub, Foshan.

That sentence is accurate and can go into a presentation or a handover file as written. If the client asks about the backing, Siji Art Hub is an art complex that opened in December 2021, with a collection running to more than eleven thousand works and over 50 exhibitions held since 2022; about iHomeArt has the detail.

On wall labels and in the handover register, give each piece its title or position, medium (acrylic on canvas, or oil where ordered), size and “hand-painted original, made to order”; a reproduction is a hand-painted reproduction after the original artist. The programme itself is yours: the curation, the selection and the story belong to your practice.

A consultant's schedule for a city hotel: seven lines, six routes

Art production: questions art consultants ask

Can catalogue pictures and codes go into the presentation we show the client?

Yes. Proposing works is what the catalogue is for: put the room photographs and codes on the deck pages, and the code is all we need to price that line. If the client wants a work at another size or in another palette, note it beside the picture.

We represent a living artist. Can you paint their work at the volume a hotel needs?

With the artist's written permission, yes. Their painting is reproduced by hand at the sizes the schedule needs, or a series is painted in their manner, and the stage photos can go to the artist as well as to you. Each piece is described as a hand-painted reproduction after the artist, so the credit stays with them.

Can the client's own photographs or archive become part of the schedule?

Yes. A view from the building, an archive photograph of the site, a founder's portrait or the company crest can be painted by hand at any size as a commission line, provided the image is the client's own or used with permission. See paintings from your own image.

What happens if the client changes the palette after the order is placed?

Tell us straight away. Pieces not yet started are painted to the new references. For a piece already under way, we tell you what can still change at its stage, and what that means for price and date, before anything is repainted.

Can a lead canvas be ready for the presentation or the client's mock-up room?

Yes. A lead canvas can be ordered on its own, before the full schedule is approved, and hung in the mock-up room or carried into the presentation. On the main order it becomes the reference for its family. One real canvas in front of the client settles questions a deck leaves open.

If a piece arrives damaged, who deals with the carrier?

We do. Send photos of the piece and its packaging; we take the claim up with the carrier and work out a solution with you, such as a replacement or a refund. The client keeps dealing with you as usual. Damage is rare: careful packing and trusted carriers keep our return rate under 0.01%.
