Crisp cream wedges cut into a scuffed taupe field like pieces of folded card: a tall blade curving down from the top left, a triangle dropping from the top right, and a short crescent that meets the blade at a single pinch point near the base. Between them, a smoother taupe leaf shape fills the centre.

The ground is worn and distressed, flecked with dark specks like old plaster, and along the bottom a band of fine vertical combing gives the otherwise flat painting its only ribbed texture. The cream shapes are painted flat with clean edges, and that meeting of crisp and weathered is what holds the eye.
