About this painting

A pale stone balances on top of a black bowl, the two shapes almost touching, like a cairn reduced to its last two pieces. The stone fills the upper half, a broad rounded lens shaded from smoky taupe at its edges to light buff in the centre, as if lit from within.

The bowl below is a deep black with hints of blue-green, cut off by the bottom edge. Fine white lines cross the stone on a slant, and one of them drops through the gap to curve over the bowl's rim, the only thread joining the two. Around them the chalky ground is roughened and speckled.

WA#650 is an original wabi-sabi geometric painting showing beige lens-shaped stone form above a black bowl form with fine white lines on a weathered ground, hand-painted in acrylic on canvas with a heavily textured impasto surface. It is painted to order in any size; the 14 standard sizes run from 20×24 in (51×61 cm) to 60×80 in (153×203 cm). Painting takes about 10 days and delivery 5–7 days by DHL, FedEx or UPS; the minimum order is one piece.

Where it works

The near-touch at the centre is the moment worth showing, so hang it at standing eye height rather than above tall furniture. Charcoal, buff and chalk suit honed limestone, smoked oak, blackened bronze and handmade ceramics; in a gallery or shop it makes a calm backdrop for a plinth of objects in front. In a spa, give it the wall at the far end of a dim treatment corridor with a single downlight.

Specified for spa & wellness, meeting & boardroom, gallery & retail and living room; it reads as peaceful and moody.

These share its palette, format and surface, so the three hang as a set: a run along a hotel corridor, a pair either side of a bed with this one between, or one per suite on the same floor.

Sizes & scale

Width × height. These are the sizes ordered most often; any other size is painted to order, with the composition redrawn to your proportions. A common rule: art about two-thirds the width of the sofa, bed or console beneath it.

What affects the price

Trade prices for WA#650 are quoted per order rather than listed, and come back within one business day. Four things set the figure:

Size
Price follows canvas area. The standard sizes run from 20×24 in to 60×80 in; any other size is quoted the same way.
Finish
Rolled canvas is the lowest-cost way to buy and ship. Stretched, ready to hang, costs more, and a frame costs the most.
Surface
Thick impasto uses more paint and takes longer to dry than flat brushwork, which the price reflects.
Quantity
Volume pricing starts at 10 pieces: the same design for every room on a floor, each one painted individually, or a mix of works.

Shipping is not included in the price; its cost is confirmed with you before the piece ships. Ask for a price on WA#650 on WhatsApp →

Questions buyers ask

What does the balanced stone in WA#650 suggest?

One stone resting on another is widely taken as an image of balance, and wabi-sabi values plain, imperfect shapes like these. Here the effect is mostly visual tension: the heavy stone seems to hover over the black bowl, held by one white line, which keeps a still picture from feeling static.

Does the black in WA#650 look flat on a wall?

No. The black has blue-green and brown worked into it and a slightly rough surface, so it reads like glazed stoneware rather than a painted-out block. In dim light it looks almost solid; under a lamp the undertones and speckles come through.

Is WA#650 a print or an original painting?

An original. WA#650 is hand-painted in acrylic on canvas when you order it — nothing in the iHomeArt catalogue is printed or held in stock. The photographs show an earlier canvas of the same design, so the brushwork on yours will differ slightly.

Will several copies of WA#650 match across rooms?

They read as a set: every copy is painted from the same composition and palette. Each one is still painted by hand, so the brushwork differs slightly from piece to piece. Progress photos at each stage let you compare them before the next stage starts, and volume pricing begins at 10 pieces.

Will the colours match what I see on screen?

Screens shift colour, so the photographs here are a guide rather than a swatch. You see progress photos or video at each stage and approve a photograph of the finished canvas before it leaves. Moving the palette towards your scheme is normal: send a photo of a paint chip, a fabric swatch or the room on WhatsApp.
