a large vertical abstract painting of black ink strokes dragged over a scraped beige and warm grey ground, horizontal brush striations pulling side to side behind two darker vertical marks, in dry thin paint

Studio photograph of the actual canvas. Yours is repainted to your dimensions, so brushwork will differ slightly — that is what an original is.

About this painting

A line of black dots runs down from the top of the canvas and gathers into a ragged ink spine, with a heavy curled blot hooked off its left side like a brushed character.

Lower down, the ink breaks into short horizontal dashes stacked like rungs. Everything sits on dry-brush streaks of cream, putty, grey and a cold blue-grey pulled from edge to edge, and through those streaks you can make out pale vertical panels and a few thin diagonal lines, as if an earlier layer had been scraped back. The paint is thin and dry throughout; the blacks are the only dense colour.

WA#008 is an original wabi-sabi painting showing black ink gestures dragged across a scraped beige-grey ground, hand-painted in acrylic on canvas. It is painted to order in any size; the 14 standard sizes run from 20×24 in (51×61 cm) to 60×80 in (153×203 cm). Painting takes about 10 days and delivery 5–7 days by DHL, FedEx or UPS; the minimum order is one piece.

Where it works

The black spine runs top to bottom, so give it a tall, narrow wall: the pier between two boardroom windows, a column face in an office reception, or the far wall of a corridor where it is seen head-on from twenty metres away. Its greys sit comfortably with board-formed concrete, blackened steel, smoked oak and charcoal felt. Wash it evenly from a ceiling track; a single spot would bleach the cream streaks and leave the lower dashes in shadow.

Specified for meeting & boardroom, corridor & circulation, workspace & office and home office; it reads as moody and dramatic.

These share its palette, format and surface, so the three hang as a set: a run along a hotel corridor, a pair either side of a bed with this one between, or one per suite on the same floor.

Sizes & scale

Width × height. These are the sizes ordered most often; any other size is painted to order, with the composition redrawn to your proportions. A common rule: art about two-thirds the width of the sofa, bed or console beneath it.

What affects the price

Trade prices for WA#008 are quoted per order rather than listed, and come back within one business day. Four things set the figure:

Size
Price follows canvas area. The standard sizes run from 20×24 in to 60×80 in; any other size is quoted the same way.
Finish
Rolled canvas is the lowest-cost way to buy and ship. Stretched, ready to hang, costs more, and a frame costs the most.
Surface
Flat brushwork takes less paint and time than impasto or relief work of the same size.
Quantity
Volume pricing starts at 10 pieces: the same design for every room on a floor, each one painted individually, or a mix of works.

Shipping is not included in the price; its cost is confirmed with you before the piece ships. Ask for a price on WA#008 on WhatsApp →

Questions buyers ask

Is there a written character hidden in WA#008?

None that can be read. The marks borrow the speed and dry edges of East Asian brush calligraphy, and the curled blot can look like a stroke from a script, but they work as abstract gesture, so no word or message is concealed in them.

Does the blue-grey in WA#008 turn cold in a warm-toned room?

Not much. The ground is mostly warm beige and putty, and the cold blue-grey bands between them keep it from going yellow, so it sits between warm oak and cool concrete without favouring either. Under 3000K light the blue-grey softens; under 4000K office lighting it becomes the leading tone.

Is WA#008 a print or an original painting?

An original. WA#008 is hand-painted in acrylic on canvas when you order it — nothing in the iHomeArt catalogue is printed or held in stock. The photographs show an earlier canvas of the same design, so the brushwork on yours will differ slightly.

Will several copies of WA#008 match across rooms?

They read as a set: every copy is painted from the same composition and palette. Each one is still painted by hand, so the brushwork differs slightly from piece to piece. Progress photos at each stage let you compare them before the next stage starts, and volume pricing begins at 10 pieces.

Will the colours match what I see on screen?

Screens shift colour, so the photographs here are a guide rather than a swatch. You see progress photos or video at each stage and approve a photograph of the finished canvas before it leaves. Moving the palette towards your scheme is normal: send a photo of a paint chip, a fabric swatch or the room on WhatsApp.
