Studio photograph of the actual canvas. Yours is repainted to your dimensions, so brushwork will differ slightly — that is what an original is.

About this painting

A tall cream column climbs the left side from the base to the top edge, pinching into a narrow neck where it meets the black, while broad pale shapes lock around a black arch on the right. Every pale area is raked with fine parallel combing, mostly horizontal, giving the surface the look of corded fabric or ploughed clay; along the bottom the comb turns vertical.

On the right, a cream bracket encloses a black window, and below it a small tab drops into a dark curve, the one playful note in a stern arrangement. The black fields are brushed rather than combed and keep a faint grain.

WA#049 is an original wabi-sabi geometric painting showing combed beige curved plaster forms on a black ground, hand-painted in acrylic on canvas with a heavily textured impasto surface. It is painted to order in any size; the 14 standard sizes run from 20×24 in (51×61 cm) to 60×80 in (153×203 cm). Painting takes about 10 days and delivery 5–7 days by DHL, FedEx or UPS; the minimum order is one piece.

Where it works

In a reception area the stark black and beige reads clearly from the door, while the combed ridges reward people waiting nearby. It pairs with blackened steel, ribbed timber slats, dark leather and natural plaster in the same warm beige. A ceiling spot set slightly to one side throws the comb lines into fine shadow; flat, even light makes them almost vanish. Leave generous clear wall around it, since the shapes already run to the edges.

Specified for lobby & reception, meeting & boardroom, living room and home office; it reads as bold and moody.

These share its palette, format and surface, so the three hang as a set: a run along a hotel corridor, a pair either side of a bed with this one between, or one per suite on the same floor.

Sizes & scale

Width × height. These are the sizes ordered most often; any other size is painted to order, with the composition redrawn to your proportions. A common rule: art about two-thirds the width of the sofa, bed or console beneath it.

What affects the price

Trade prices for WA#049 are quoted per order rather than listed, and come back within one business day. Four things set the figure:

Size
Price follows canvas area. The standard sizes run from 20×24 in to 60×80 in; any other size is quoted the same way.
Finish
Rolled canvas is the lowest-cost way to buy and ship. Stretched, ready to hang, costs more, and a frame costs the most.
Surface
Thick impasto uses more paint and takes longer to dry than flat brushwork, which the price reflects.
Quantity
Volume pricing starts at 10 pieces: the same design for every room on a floor, each one painted individually, or a mix of works.

Shipping is not included in the price; its cost is confirmed with you before the piece ships. Ask for a price on WA#049 on WhatsApp →

Questions buyers ask

How is the combed texture on WA#049 made?

A toothed tool is drawn through thick, wet paste, leaving rows of fine ridges close together. The direction changes from shape to shape, horizontal on the column and the upper bands, vertical along the base, so each pale form catches light differently even though they share one colour.

Does the black in WA#049 read as solid flat black?

Not quite. It is brushed in long horizontal strokes that leave a faint grain, and in low or angled light that grain shows as a soft dark sheen beside the matt combed beige. In bright, even daylight it looks almost uniform.

Is WA#049 a print or an original painting?

An original. WA#049 is hand-painted in acrylic on canvas when you order it — nothing in the iHomeArt catalogue is printed or held in stock. The photographs show an earlier canvas of the same design, so the brushwork on yours will differ slightly.

Will several copies of WA#049 match across rooms?

They read as a set: every copy is painted from the same composition and palette. Each one is still painted by hand, so the brushwork differs slightly from piece to piece. Progress photos at each stage let you compare them before the next stage starts, and volume pricing begins at 10 pieces.

Will the colours match what I see on screen?

Screens shift colour, so the photographs here are a guide rather than a swatch. You see progress photos or video at each stage and approve a photograph of the finished canvas before it leaves. Moving the palette towards your scheme is normal: send a photo of a paint chip, a fabric swatch or the room on WhatsApp.
