About this painting

Two pale strokes cross a dark chocolate-brown field, one long and gently bowed, running from the upper left down towards the bottom centre, the other a short sliver to its right. Both are cream at the core with grey-tan edges, like peeled birch twigs laid on dark earth.

Everything else is ground: a near-black brown scratched and scuffed all over with fine white hairlines, flecks and chips, most densely along the edges. A faint scratch runs parallel to the lower half of the long stroke, a small echo noticed only at close range. The paint itself is flat and brushed.

WA#284 is an original wabi-sabi geometric painting showing two thin diagonal cream strokes on a scratched dark brown field, hand-painted in acrylic on canvas. It is painted to order in any size; the 14 standard sizes run from 20×24 in (51×61 cm) to 60×80 in (153×203 cm). Painting takes about 10 days and delivery 5–7 days by DHL, FedEx or UPS; the minimum order is one piece.

Where it works

A dark rectangle with two light lines has a strong graphic outline, so it carries across a large space: the end wall of a boardroom seen from the far chair, or a pale feature wall in a restaurant. It needs contrast behind it, chalk white, soft grey or pale plaster, and looks best with ivory boucle, pale wood and black lampshades repeating its two tones. Keep it away from dark curtains, where its edges vanish.

Specified for meeting & boardroom, gallery & retail, restaurant & bar and home office; it reads as moody and bold.

These share its palette, format and surface, so the three hang as a set: a run along a hotel corridor, a pair either side of a bed with this one between, or one per suite on the same floor.

Sizes & scale

Width × height. These are the sizes ordered most often; any other size is painted to order, with the composition redrawn to your proportions. A common rule: art about two-thirds the width of the sofa, bed or console beneath it.

What affects the price

Trade prices for WA#284 are quoted per order rather than listed, and come back within one business day. Four things set the figure:

Size
Price follows canvas area. The standard sizes run from 20×24 in to 60×80 in; any other size is quoted the same way.
Finish
Rolled canvas is the lowest-cost way to buy and ship. Stretched, ready to hang, costs more, and a frame costs the most.
Surface
Flat brushwork takes less paint and time than impasto or relief work of the same size.
Quantity
Volume pricing starts at 10 pieces: the same design for every room on a floor, each one painted individually, or a mix of works.

Shipping is not included in the price; its cost is confirmed with you before the piece ships. Ask for a price on WA#284 on WhatsApp →

Questions buyers ask

What do the two strokes in WA#284 represent?

Nothing literal is drawn. Many people see birch twigs, grass stalks or two figures far off; others read them as pure gesture, a long line and a short one in conversation. The scratched brown ground keeps them from looking clinical, closer to marks on old wood than to graphic design.

Are the white scratches on WA#284 part of the painting or wear?

They are part of the painting, made on purpose to give the dark ground an aged, handled look, and every canvas is made with them. They are not damage. The surface is flat, so the marks are seen rather than felt.

Is WA#284 a print or an original painting?

An original. WA#284 is hand-painted in acrylic on canvas when you order it — nothing in the iHomeArt catalogue is printed or held in stock. The photographs show an earlier canvas of the same design, so the brushwork on yours will differ slightly.

Will several copies of WA#284 match across rooms?

They read as a set: every copy is painted from the same composition and palette. Each one is still painted by hand, so the brushwork differs slightly from piece to piece. Progress photos at each stage let you compare them before the next stage starts, and volume pricing begins at 10 pieces.

Will the colours match what I see on screen?

Screens shift colour, so the photographs here are a guide rather than a swatch. You see progress photos or video at each stage and approve a photograph of the finished canvas before it leaves. Moving the palette towards your scheme is normal: send a photo of a paint chip, a fabric swatch or the room on WhatsApp.
