About this painting

Banana leaves in copper, bronze, gold and chalk white fan up out of a black ground, each one outlined in a thin raised line and ribbed with carved veins. The cluster sits right of centre and spills off the right edge, while the upper left stays open black, combed in loose arcs so the ground itself has a grain.

The tallest leaf, rising through the middle, shades from rose-copper into silver-grey streaks. Two dark leaves on the right reverse the scheme, black blades with white ribs, which keeps the warm gold and copper tones from merging into one mass.

TA#509 is an original textured floral painting showing textured bronze, copper, gold and white banana leaves on a black plaster ground, hand-painted in acrylic on canvas with a sculpted relief surface. It is painted to order in any size; the 14 standard sizes run from 20×24 in (51×61 cm) to 60×80 in (153×203 cm). Painting takes about 10 days and delivery 5–7 days by DHL, FedEx or UPS; the minimum order is one piece.

Where it works

A black ground needs light to come alive, so hang it where a downlight or wall washer can graze the carved veins: the banquette wall of a restaurant, the back wall of a bar, or a dining room painted in warm white or limewash. Set on a pale wall, the black canvas holds together as one solid block, which helps it anchor a large open room. Cognac leather, terracotta and brass fittings pick up the copper and bronze leaves directly.

Specified for restaurant & bar, lobby & reception, gallery & retail and dining room; it reads as dramatic and moody.

These share its palette, format and surface, so the three hang as a set: a run along a hotel corridor, a pair either side of a bed with this one between, or one per suite on the same floor.

Sizes & scale

Width × height. These are the sizes ordered most often; any other size is painted to order, with the composition redrawn to your proportions. A common rule: art about two-thirds the width of the sofa, bed or console beneath it.

What affects the price

Trade prices for TA#509 are quoted per order rather than listed, and come back within one business day. Four things set the figure:

Size
Price follows canvas area. The standard sizes run from 20×24 in to 60×80 in; any other size is quoted the same way.
Finish
Because the surface is not rolled, the choice is between stretched, ready to hang, and stretched in a frame; a frame costs more.
Surface
Sculpted relief is built up in layers with drying time between them, so it costs more than a flat painting of the same size.
Quantity
Volume pricing starts at 10 pieces: the same design for every room on a floor, each one painted individually, or a mix of works.

Shipping is not included in the price; its cost is confirmed with you before the piece ships. Ask for a price on TA#509 on WhatsApp →

Questions buyers ask

Why are some leaves in TA#509 black with white veins?

They work as shadow leaves. Painted in the same black as the ground and picked out only by white rib lines, they sit back behind the copper and gold blades and give the cluster depth, so it reads as a plant with a front and a back rather than a flat pattern.

Is the black around the leaves of TA#509 painted flat?

No. The ground is dragged into loose curved grooves, visible as faint arcs in the upper left, so under side light it shows a soft grain that contrasts with the sharper, straighter ridges of the leaf veins.

Is TA#509 a print or an original painting?

An original. TA#509 is hand-painted in acrylic on canvas when you order it — nothing in the iHomeArt catalogue is printed or held in stock. The photographs show an earlier canvas of the same design, so the brushwork on yours will differ slightly.

Will several copies of TA#509 match across rooms?

They read as a set: every copy is painted from the same composition and palette. Each one is still painted by hand, so the brushwork differs slightly from piece to piece. Progress photos at each stage let you compare them before the next stage starts, and volume pricing begins at 10 pieces.

Will the colours match what I see on screen?

Screens shift colour, so the photographs here are a guide rather than a swatch. You see progress photos or video at each stage and approve a photograph of the finished canvas before it leaves. Moving the palette towards your scheme is normal: send a photo of a paint chip, a fabric swatch or the room on WhatsApp.
