About this painting

Fourteen scarlet roses rise on dark, woody stems toward the top of a black canvas, every bloom built up in heavy paste with its petals carved into a tight spiral.

Behind them a white and pale blue glow opens out of the darkness like light breaking through a hedge, its speckled edge dissolving into the black around the margins. Leaves are flicked in olive and lime, and pale blades of grass rise from a deep green base. With only red, green, black and white in play, the roses carry all of the colour.

TA#023 is an original textured floral painting showing sculpted red roses with green leaves on a black speckled plaster ground with a white centre, hand-painted in acrylic on canvas with a sculpted relief surface. It is painted to order in any size; the 14 standard sizes run from 20×24 in (51×61 cm) to 60×80 in (153×203 cm). Painting takes about 10 days and delivery 5–7 days by DHL, FedEx or UPS; the minimum order is one piece.

Where it works

In a wine bar or a restaurant with dark-painted or panelled walls, the black ground blends with the wall and the roses appear to float. Against orange or terracotta paint, as in its room views, the red warms up and the white centre glows. A narrow downlight aimed at the middle picks out the raised blooms and leaves the black margins dark, which suits low evening light over a dining table.

Specified for restaurant & bar, gallery & retail, dining room and living room; it reads as dramatic and bold.

These share its palette, format and surface, so the three hang as a set: a run along a hotel corridor, a pair either side of a bed with this one between, or one per suite on the same floor.

Sizes & scale

Width × height. These are the sizes ordered most often; any other size is painted to order, with the composition redrawn to your proportions. A common rule: art about two-thirds the width of the sofa, bed or console beneath it.

What affects the price

Trade prices for TA#023 are quoted per order rather than listed, and come back within one business day. Four things set the figure:

Size
Price follows canvas area. The standard sizes run from 20×24 in to 60×80 in; any other size is quoted the same way.
Finish
Because the surface is not rolled, the choice is between stretched, ready to hang, and stretched in a frame; a frame costs more.
Surface
Sculpted relief is built up in layers with drying time between them, so it costs more than a flat painting of the same size.
Quantity
Volume pricing starts at 10 pieces: the same design for every room on a floor, each one painted individually, or a mix of works.

Shipping is not included in the price; its cost is confirmed with you before the piece ships. Ask for a price on TA#023 on WhatsApp →

Questions buyers ask

What is the white burst painted behind the roses in TA#023?

It acts as a backlight. The white and pale blue area sits directly behind the densest cluster of blooms so the red stands out against it, and its broken, spattered edge fades into the black ground. It reads as light coming through foliage rather than as a solid shape.

Are the fourteen roses in TA#023 all the same size?

No. Three are noticeably larger and fully open, one at upper right, one in the centre and one low on the right. The smaller blooms are spaced up the left side and across the top, which keeps the bush from looking like a flat repeat pattern.

Is TA#023 a print or an original painting?

An original. TA#023 is hand-painted in acrylic on canvas when you order it — nothing in the iHomeArt catalogue is printed or held in stock. The photographs show an earlier canvas of the same design, so the brushwork on yours will differ slightly.

Will several copies of TA#023 match across rooms?

They read as a set: every copy is painted from the same composition and palette. Each one is still painted by hand, so the brushwork differs slightly from piece to piece. Progress photos at each stage let you compare them before the next stage starts, and volume pricing begins at 10 pieces.

Will the colours match what I see on screen?

Screens shift colour, so the photographs here are a guide rather than a swatch. You see progress photos or video at each stage and approve a photograph of the finished canvas before it leaves. Moving the palette towards your scheme is normal: send a photo of a paint chip, a fabric swatch or the room on WhatsApp.
