About this painting

A small dark boat with a rust-red sail floats just left of centre on a black sea, while a round white sun hangs just above the horizon beside it and drops a broken column of white and gold down the water. Above, the sky is stacked in bands of cobalt, red, yellow and orange, with a pale cloud lit behind the sail.

The bands are laid in long horizontal knife strokes, ridged where one colour meets the next. The sea darkens to black at both edges, which frames the hot reflection in the middle and gives the picture its strong, almost poster-like contrast.

IA#088 is an original impressionist seascape painting showing single sailboat on a dark sea under a banded blue, red and yellow sunset with sun reflection, hand-painted in acrylic on canvas with a heavily textured impasto surface. It is painted to order in any size; the 14 standard sizes run from 24×20 in (61×51 cm) to 80×60 in (203×153 cm). Painting takes about 10 days and delivery 5–7 days by DHL, FedEx or UPS; the minimum order is one piece.

Where it works

Strong enough to carry across a hotel lobby, it suits the wall behind a long reception desk or the far end of a cocktail bar, visible from the street door. Plain white or pale grey walls sharpen the black water at its edges; avoid busy neighbours, since the sky already holds four strong colours. A picture light set close above throws shadow under the knife ridges. Navy, rust and black leather pick out its colours.

Specified for lobby & reception, restaurant & bar, gallery & retail and dining room; it reads as bold and dramatic.

Pairs well with

These share its palette, format and surface, so the three hang as a set: a run along a hotel corridor, a pair either side of a bed with this one between, or one per suite on the same floor.

Sizes & scale

Width × height. These are the sizes ordered most often; any other size is painted to order, with the composition redrawn to your proportions. A common rule: art about two-thirds the width of the sofa, bed or console beneath it.

What affects the price

Trade prices for IA#088 are quoted per order rather than listed, and come back within one business day. Four things set the figure:

Size
Price follows canvas area. The standard sizes run from 24×20 in to 80×60 in; any other size is quoted the same way.
Finish
Rolled canvas is the lowest-cost way to buy and ship. Stretched, ready to hang, costs more, and a frame costs the most.
Surface
Thick impasto uses more paint and takes longer to dry than flat brushwork, which the price reflects.
Quantity
Volume pricing starts at 10 pieces: the same design for every room on a floor, each one painted individually, or a mix of works.

Shipping is not included in the price; its cost is confirmed with you before the piece ships. Ask for a price on IA#088 on WhatsApp →

Questions buyers ask

Why does the sea in IA#088 turn black at the edges?

It is the way water looks just after sunset, when only the path under the sun still holds light. The black margins frame the reflection in the middle and stop the bright sky from running off the canvas, which helps the painting hold its shape on a pale wall.

Is the sky in IA#088 handled differently from the sea?

Yes. In the sky the knife runs in long horizontal strokes, so each colour band has a ridged edge where it meets the next. In the water the strokes are shorter and broken, especially in the stack of white dashes under the sun, which reads as light moving on the surface.

Is IA#088 a print or an original painting?

An original. IA#088 is hand-painted in acrylic on canvas when you order it — nothing in the iHomeArt catalogue is printed or held in stock. The photographs show an earlier canvas of the same design, so the brushwork on yours will differ slightly.

Will several copies of IA#088 match across rooms?

They read as a set: every copy is painted from the same composition and palette. Each one is still painted by hand, so the brushwork differs slightly from piece to piece. Progress photos at each stage let you compare them before the next stage starts, and volume pricing begins at 10 pieces.

Will the colours match what I see on screen?

Screens shift colour, so the photographs here are a guide rather than a swatch. You see progress photos or video at each stage and approve a photograph of the finished canvas before it leaves. Moving the palette towards your scheme is normal: send a photo of a paint chip, a fabric swatch or the room on WhatsApp.
