About this painting

Four open magnolia blooms and a few tight buds lift on thin, crooked stems out of a round-bellied glass vase, set against a ground so dark it reads almost as black velvet. Everything is drawn in fine, slightly broken dark lines, like an etched drawing: petal edges and veins are traced over flat cream, with a faint green tint at the centres and along the stems.

The vase is the subtlest passage, a smoky olive form with scribbled highlights where light catches the glass. It sits just left of centre, leaving bare dark ground down the right. Paint lies flat and matt; all the texture lives in the line.

WA#095 is an original wabi-sabi floral painting showing cream white magnolia-like blossoms in a round glass vase on a near-black background, etched line style, hand-painted in acrylic on canvas. It is painted to order in any size; the 14 standard sizes run from 20×24 in (51×61 cm) to 60×80 in (153×203 cm). Painting takes about 10 days and delivery 5–7 days by DHL, FedEx or UPS; the minimum order is one piece.

Where it works

The near-black ground needs light to work, so choose a wall where a picture light or recessed spot can be aimed at it: above a dining room sideboard, the rear wall of a wine bar, or a lobby niche. It is at its best on pale panelled or tongue-and-groove walls over warm timber furniture, where the dark rectangle becomes a crisp window. Avoid a wall opposite a bright window, as glare on dark paint swallows the fine lines.

Specified for restaurant & bar, gallery & retail, lobby & reception and dining room; it reads as moody and dramatic.

Sizes & scale

Width × height. These are the sizes ordered most often; any other size is painted to order, with the composition redrawn to your proportions. A common rule: art about two-thirds the width of the sofa, bed or console beneath it.

What affects the price

Trade prices for WA#095 are quoted per order rather than listed, and come back within one business day. Four things set the figure:

Size
Price follows canvas area. The standard sizes run from 20×24 in to 60×80 in; any other size is quoted the same way.
Finish
Rolled canvas is the lowest-cost way to buy and ship. Stretched, ready to hang, costs more, and a frame costs the most.
Surface
Flat brushwork takes less paint and time than impasto or relief work of the same size.
Quantity
Volume pricing starts at 10 pieces: the same design for every room on a floor, each one painted individually, or a mix of works.

Shipping is not included in the price; its cost is confirmed with you before the piece ships. Ask for a price on WA#095 on WhatsApp →

Questions buyers ask

How are the fine outlines in WA#095 drawn?

They are thin dark lines worked over the cream petals and the glass vase, with a slightly scratchy, broken quality closer to an etched drawing than to a smooth brush edge. Up close the line skips and thickens, which keeps the flowers lively and keeps the piece from looking stencilled.

Is the near-black ground of WA#095 too heavy for a compact dining room?

Usually not, because the cream blossoms carry most of the visual weight and the black reads as depth rather than mass. In a compact room choose a mid-range size, keep the surrounding wall light, and let a single spotlight pick out the flowers.

Is WA#095 a print or an original painting?

An original. WA#095 is hand-painted in acrylic on canvas when you order it — nothing in the iHomeArt catalogue is printed or held in stock. The photographs show an earlier canvas of the same design, so the brushwork on yours will differ slightly.

Will several copies of WA#095 match across rooms?

They read as a set: every copy is painted from the same composition and palette. Each one is still painted by hand, so the brushwork differs slightly from piece to piece. Progress photos at each stage let you compare them before the next stage starts, and volume pricing begins at 10 pieces.

Will the colours match what I see on screen?

Screens shift colour, so the photographs here are a guide rather than a swatch. You see progress photos or video at each stage and approve a photograph of the finished canvas before it leaves. Moving the palette towards your scheme is normal: send a photo of a paint chip, a fabric swatch or the room on WhatsApp.
