About this painting

Nine firework bursts open over a night garden, and each one is also a seed head on a long thin stem, so a summer flowerbed and a celebration in the sky share the same canvas. Across the top they alternate teal, pink, orange, teal and orange, with violet, sky blue and a large cream head hanging lower.

Beneath them the bottom third is packed with small garden flowers in rose, red, lemon, peach and lilac against dark leaves, and the navy sky is speckled with tiny sparks. Fine rays radiate from each glowing centre, while the flowers below are dabbed on thickly so they sit forward.
