A gold trunk twists up from a mound of teal grass and splits into two forks that curve outward, holding a wide dome of blossom against a near-black sky. The canopy is built from hundreds of small dabs of pink, coral, lemon, white, sky blue and violet, densest and warmest at the centre and thinning at the edges into scattered dots and falling petals.

The trunk carries the heaviest paint, worked in raised, bark-like strokes of ochre, amber and umber with pale yellow highlights, so it catches light like a carved object while the blossom above stays soft and speckled.
