Magenta poppies on long, wavering stems float across a hazy meadow, their dark eyes turned in all directions under a rose and lilac sky.

Unlike a packed field, the flowers here are spaced apart, ten or so heads strung loosely across the middle with open passages of sand and khaki between them.
