Home staging art to own, hand-painted in sizes that fit most walls

iHomeArt supplies home staging art to stagers and property stylists: original canvases, hand-painted to order in a handful of standard sizes and made to move from listing to listing. Every piece is sold outright and keeps its reference code, so the inventory you build is yours to rotate, and a worn piece can be painted again at the same size.

Should a stager own home staging art or keep renting it?

Own the pieces you will hang again and again: a painting bought outright works on every listing it dresses, for as long as it stays in good order.

Most staging companies own their sofas and rugs and hire in the rest. Art follows the same arithmetic: a hired picture is a charge that returns with every job and extension, while a painting you own is paid for once and gets cheaper per job with each listing it dresses. Divide its price by the listings you expect it to see, and compare.

Owning gives you three more things. The look: no other stager in town hangs the same canvas. The calendar: a sale that drags on adds nothing to the art bill. The sale: when a buyer falls for the painting above the fireplace, let it go with the house and order the code again. Every iHomeArt piece is sold outright, so all three apply from the day it reaches your store.

For a one-off wall, such as a double-height hall, see oversized and custom-size art. If the art will stay in the property, in a furnished let or a client's own home, see serviced apartments or residential interior designers.

Which sizes of wall art for home staging cover most listings?

Six sizes dress most staged homes: two landscape sizes for sofas, beds and dining walls, two portrait sizes, a square, and a small size for the spots in between.

Buy against a kit, not wall by wall: a few sizes, each with several jobs, so any canvas on the rack can go to whichever listing needs it next.

SizeShapeWhere it goes
122 × 81 cm (48 × 32 in)LandscapeA full-size three-seat sofa, a king bed, a dining wall
102 × 76 cm (40 × 30 in)LandscapeAn apartment sofa or loveseat, a queen bed, a smaller dining room
81 × 61 cm (32 × 24 in)PortraitHung as a pair above a bed or sofa; alone in a guest room or study
91 × 61 cm (36 × 24 in)PortraitThe entry, a stair landing, the narrow wall between two windows
91 × 91 cm (36 × 36 in)SquareA dining nook, above a console or sideboard, a box bedroom
61 × 51 cm (24 × 20 in) or 61 cm (24 in) squareEitherPowder room, kitchen, bathroom, leaning on a shelf

Over a sofa or a bed, choose a canvas at least half, and ideally about two-thirds, of the furniture's width, so the two read as one group. If the work you love is portrait and the wall wants landscape, the Resize route redraws the composition rather than stretching it. Start with landscape works and squares.

What colours of home staging art appeal to the most buyers?

Calm, light grounds with one clear colour: neutral enough for any buyer to picture their own things in the room, with enough contrast to register in photographs.

Staging art must please people you will never meet, in rooms you have not yet seen. Choose families of colour, each matched to furniture you own.

Will real estate staging art look real in listing photos?

Yes: real paint has depth and the canvas hangs without glass, but size and contrast decide whether a buyer scrolling past notices it.

Property photographers shoot wide, and a wide lens shrinks whatever hangs on the far wall. A canvas that feels generous in the room becomes a postage stamp on a phone, so go one size up on the wall the main shot faces.

Brushwork and knife-laid paint catch side light from a window, which is why a hand-painted canvas reads as a real object in the close-ups that follow the wide shots. Glazed prints pick up the windows and the flash; our canvases hang unglazed. Texture also gives a quiet palette something to show: browse the textured and Wabi-Sabi works.

A digitally staged wall promises a painting that is not there; a real one looks the same at the viewing as it did online.

Keep the collection to two styles, one palette family and one frame decision, and agents will recognise your rooms before they read the photo credit.

A stager is hired on a portfolio of other people's houses. What makes them read as your work is the repeated choice: the same calm abstracts, the same cream-to-olive range, listing after listing.

  • Two styles, not six. One quiet style for bedrooms and a stronger one for living rooms: Contemporary Minimalist with Wabi-Sabi, say, or Impressionist landscapes with abstracts.
  • One frame decision. Frameless throughout, or a single moulding, black or wood, for every framed piece.
  • Pairs and trios. The Vary route paints a related set from one work, for above a bed or up a staircase.
  • A series of your own. Where the budget allows, we design a small collection for your company alone, approved as a sample before the rest is painted.

How does a first order of home staging art run?

Start from your kit list, try two or three pieces on real jobs, then order the rest as one batch so volume pricing counts every canvas.

Each piece is priced by its size, its paint surface (plaster and heavy knife texture take longer than flat brushwork) and its finish. Volume pricing starts at 10 pieces, counted across the whole kit.

  1. Your kit listThe sizes you stage most, how many of each, a photo of your warehouse furniture and the delivery address.
  2. Shortlist and priceWe suggest works for each slot, or price the codes you picked, with a delivery date for the batch.
  3. Trial piecesHang two or three canvases in live listings first; order the kit once you have seen them in your own photographs.
  4. Painting, step by stepPhotos or video as each canvas progresses; nothing moves on until you say yes. Half is paid to start, half once you approve the finished photograph.
  5. Onto your racksWe book the carrier, agree the shipping cost before dispatch and send tracking. Ask us to mark each canvas with its code and size.

Framed or frameless: which artwork for home staging survives moving day?

Frameless stretched canvas is the lightest to carry and has nothing to shatter; a frame adds weight but guards the edge; rolled suits stagers with their own framer.

Can I order one painting for a single listing?

Yes: the minimum order is one piece, so a listing your kit does not suit can have a canvas of its own.

Order the day the listing is signed: painting takes about ten days, and express delivery by DHL, FedEx or UPS another five to seven. Send a photo of the wall with its width for a suggested size and works.

  • The awkward wall. A chimney breast or a long landing nothing in the kit fits, painted to your measurement.
  • The local scene. The beach, the harbour or the skyline the house sells on, painted from your photograph: see paintings from your own image.
  • The particular buyer. Something livelier for a family home, or one bold canvas for a city flat: browse uplifting and bold works.

To be ready for rush jobs, keep two or three unassigned canvases in each core size on the rack.

When a staging piece wears out, can I restock the same painting?

Yes: order it again by its reference code and size, and a fresh canvas is painted from the same design to replace the one you retire.

Every job means two van trips, two hangings and weeks of viewers, and sooner or later a corner is crushed. Because every piece is painted to order, the design is always there to paint again.

Keep an inventory register, one line per canvas:

  • code, size, finish and frame colour
  • any colour change, with its paint codes or fabric photo
  • the date it arrived and the listings it has dressed

With that line, a restock is one message. The new canvas is painted by hand from the same design, a close sibling rather than a copy. The register also shows which pieces earn: those out on every job deserve a second copy; those gathering dust can be recoloured into this season's palette.

Damage on the way to you is rare. If it happens, photograph the piece and its box and send us the pictures; we pursue the claim with the carrier and agree the remedy with you, a replacement or a refund for example.

Home staging art: questions stagers ask

How many paintings does it take to stage a house?

For a three-bedroom house, plan on eight to twelve: one or two in the living room, one in the dining area, one or a pair above the main bed, one in each other bedroom, one in the entry, and a small piece for the kitchen or powder room. Walls the camera skips can stay bare.

How high should art hang in a staged home?

On an open wall, put the centre of the canvas about 145–152 cm (57–60 in) from the floor. Above a sofa or a bed, leave roughly 20–25 cm (8–10 in) between the furniture and the bottom edge. Under a very high ceiling, resist hanging higher: the photographs frame the furniture, not the ceiling.

Can I sell a staging painting to the buyer of the house?

Yes. Every piece we supply is sold outright, so it is yours to sell. Price it as you would any item of stock, then reorder the same code to refill its slot in the kit.

Can the listing say the art is hand-painted?

Yes, truthfully: every canvas is painted by hand in acrylic, or in oil on request, and nothing is printed, so ‘original hand-painted art’ is accurate in the listing or on a card in the room. Hand-painted reproductions of a known painting are possible too, with the rights holder's permission while it is in copyright.

What art should I bring to an occupied home?

Fewer, lighter pieces. In an occupied home the job is usually to take down family photographs and very personal art and put up two to five calm canvases in the living room, main bedroom and entry. Frameless pieces at 81 × 61 cm and 102 × 76 cm fit in a car and go up quickly.

Can I return a piece that does not suit my inventory?

Each canvas is painted for your order, so once you have approved its final photograph it is not returnable. That is why trial pieces come before a large kit, and why the stage photos matter: change a colour or a shape while the canvas is still on the easel.

Can you deliver to my warehouse or a storage unit?

Yes. Give us the address and any delivery instructions, such as opening hours or a loading bay, and we book the carrier to deliver there and confirm the shipping cost before dispatch.
