How much art does a hotel in the UAE need, space by space?

Count the keys first, then the public walls: usually one piece per standard room, two to four per suite, one per lift lobby on each floor, and a handful of large works for the lobby, the spa and each restaurant.

A UAE hotel's art is a schedule rather than a shopping list, and the guest rooms make up most of its lines. The public rooms take fewer pieces, but larger and more carefully briefed ones: The Lana, Dorchester Collection, opened in 2024 with 225 rooms and more than 50 commissioned works. A resort multiplies the venues too. Atlantis The Royal opened with 17 restaurants and bars, each of them a wall plan of its own.

Draw the schedule up by room type and space, with a size on every line, and send it as it stands. We price each line, suggest catalogue designs or design pieces for the scheme, and mark where one design can be painted in variations. Volume pricing starts at ten pieces, which a single floor of guest rooms usually reaches.

What size and kind of artwork does a UAE hotel lobby need?

Work at the scale of the architecture: a canvas of 2.5 metres or more, a set of panels, or texture and relief that hold their own against marble, glass and sculpture.

UAE lobbies are built to make an impression, and the art shares the room with stone, water and light. Atlantis The Royal themes its lobby on desert rain, with hundreds of raindrop-shaped pendants overhead; The Lana fills its lobby with material-led commissions, from a gilded honeycomb on a pink mosaic wall to glass, brass and carved stone. A pale canvas of standard size disappears in rooms like these.

Size the painting from the wall: measure it, note where arriving guests first see it, and expect the piece behind reception or facing the entrance to need 2.5 m or more. Palette-knife texture and 3D plaster read from across a lobby; they travel stretched or framed, so check that the service lift takes a piece of that size. Browse art for lobbies and reception.

How do you paint art for 200 hotel rooms without 200 identical paintings?

Approve one design for each room type, then have it painted in variations of palette and composition, so every room has an original that belongs to the same family.

Guest-room art in the UAE sits among strong finishes: The Lana's rooms combine beaded wall panels, curved velvet furniture and pink marble bedside tables. That usually leaves the wall above the headboard, where a painting must be calm enough to sleep under yet strong enough for the panelling. Where rooms keep to clean lines and a neutral palette, as at Mandarin Oriental Downtown Dubai, warm abstracts and soft landscapes carry the room.

For a large programme, work by room type. Choose a design for each type, approve one sample, and we paint the rest by hand in variations, the palette shifted floor by floor or the composition reworked, so no two rooms match yet each floor reads as one. Every canvas is labelled with its room and listed on the packing list, and its code stays on file for re-orders. More on guest-room art programmes.

What art goes in hotel corridors, lift lobbies and the spa?

A series rather than single pieces: one theme carried along the corridors and lift lobbies, floor by floor, and calm, textured work in the spa, where guests slow down.

Corridors show a hotel's art to every guest, every day. Mandarin Oriental Downtown Dubai hangs works by regional and international artists along its corridors, and Jumeirah showed 16 works, by artists including Mona Hatoum and Azza Al Qubaisi, in the corridors and public spaces of Madinat Jumeirah. Guests walk past these walls, so the art works as a sequence: one subject or palette, vertical formats sized to the wall between doors, and a clear piece at each lift lobby that tells one floor from the next.

Spas are growing into whole floors: Six Senses The Palm announced a wellness area of 60,000 sq ft. There, quiet texture in sand, stone and soft green suits the reception and treatment rooms better than strong colour. Browse corridor art and art for spas.

How do UAE hotels give their art a sense of place?

By telling a local story, usually desert, sea, pearl diving, palms or letterforms, with one work by an Emirati or UAE-based artist at its heart and the rest painted to the same theme.

Guests notice when the art could hang anywhere, and UAE hotels have long answered with local work. Back in 2016, Four Seasons Abu Dhabi commissioned seven bronzes from the Emirati artist Ashwaq Abdulla, one for each emirate. Hotel Indigo Dubai Downtown shows more than 200 works commissioned from Emirati and UAE-based artists, all for sale to guests, and W Dubai Mina Seyahi takes its interiors from dhow boats, with calligraphy-motif fabrics.

A practical split: one piece by a local artist for the wall everyone photographs, then made-to-order canvases that carry the same story through rooms and corridors, from dunes and Gulf blues to dhow sails, palms or geometry. Keep figures and anything explicit out of the public rooms. For Arabic calligraphy, start from a calligrapher's artwork, used with permission, and have a native reader check the stage photographs. What restaurant wall art suits Dubai and Abu Dhabi?

Art that belongs to the concept: each venue gets its own brief, sized for the long wall or the bar back, and it has to hold its ground beside strong materials without fighting them.

A new hotel opens several restaurants at once: Ciel Dubai Marina has eight dining venues, each needing a wall plan of its own. Some of the most admired rooms lean on materials rather than paintings. Prix Versailles named two Dubai restaurants among the world's most beautiful in 2025: Smoked Room, in black brick, mirror and brass mesh, and Gerbou, with camel leather and ghaf-wood chairs. Others put art at the centre: Isabel Mayfair in Abu Dhabi pairs sequinned floral artwork with hand-painted wallpaper.

Brief us on the concept rather than a colour: the cuisine, the evening light, the finishes and the wall diners face. A bright piece suits an all-day café, a dark, moody canvas a grill room lit low. For a group with several branches, one design family painted for each site keeps the brand consistent. More on art for restaurant groups and bars.

Refurbishing or rebranding a hotel in the UAE: when should the art change?

With the rooms: plan the art floor by floor alongside the refurbishment, so each batch of canvases is painted and approved while those rooms are out of service, not after they reopen.

2026 has slowed new openings: UAE hotel occupancy fell to 58% in the first half, and no major hotel was completed in the second quarter. Much of the work is refurbishment and conversion: Hilton's LXR conversion of the former Anantara Eastern Mangroves in Abu Dhabi, with 167 rooms, and a 196-room refurbishment at InterContinental Dubai Marina. A new brand usually wants a new story on its walls; when Emirates Palace relaunched as a Mandarin Oriental, it kept its marble and gold but aimed for a more contemporary feel.

Let the art follow the refurbishment's rhythm. Approve the first floor's pieces as your sample, and the next batch is painted while the next floor is being finished, each canvas labelled for its room. Pieces that still suit the new scheme can stay, with new work matched to them from a daylight photograph.

What do serviced apartments and branded residences in the UAE need?

A home-sized set for each unit, usually one piece for the living room and one for each bedroom, in the hotel's palette but quieter, ordered by unit type.

Many new UAE hotels come with homes attached. Mandarin Oriental Downtown Dubai has 224 branded residences beside its 259 rooms, and Vida Dubai Mall pairs 195 rooms with 620 residential units. Dubai alone counted nearly 140 branded-residence projects, completed and planned, at the end of 2024. Furnished units run by the hotel need art too, planned by unit type.

Their walls are bigger than a hotel room's. Janu Dubai's residences, due in 2027, have ceilings up to 3.5 m and hand-finished plaster walls, which call for taller canvases and texture that sits well on plaster. Size the living-room piece to the sofa wall and the bedroom piece to about two-thirds of the bed's width, and keep the palette calmer than the lobby's. See art for serviced apartments and the UAE size guide.

How do hotels and restaurants in the UAE order art from iHomeArt?

Send the art schedule, the drawings or a photo of each wall on WhatsApp; we price every line, and photographs of each stage become your approvals.

UAE fit-out firms buy FF&E in stages; one Dubai firm names them review, compare, track and handover, with lead times that vary by supplier location and logistics route. Our stages slot into theirs: you send the schedule, the drawings or a photo of each wall, your quote usually arrives within one business day, and photographs or video of every stage go straight to whoever signs off. Fabric, stone or paint samples photographed in daylight let us mix the palette to your scheme, as the Burj Al Arab's designers did when its new paintings were developed from carpet and fabric samples.

Opening dates move and routes change: Wynn Al Marjan Island pushed back its opening when shipments had to be rerouted in 2026. More on art for FF&E procurement; the wider picture is in the UAE wall art guide.

Each canvas can travel stretched and ready to hang, framed, or rolled; a rolled canvas, the lightest and most economical way to send a large painting, arrives without stretcher bars, and any local framer can stretch it for you.

Art for hotels and restaurants in the UAE FAQs

Can you paint to an art consultant's or interior designer's drawings?

Yes. Send the drawings, renders or mood board with sizes and palette, and we paint each piece by hand to them, room type by room type, with photographs of every stage for your approval. A design can be kept exclusive to the project if you ask before we begin.

What is the largest painting you can make for a hotel lobby?

Send us the wall: a photo, its width and height, and how the piece will reach it, by loading bay, service lift or door.

Can you paint the Dubai skyline, a dhow or our own hotel?

Yes. Choose from the catalogue's cityscapes, seascapes and desert scenes, or send a photograph of the view, the building or the subject, and we suggest the size and finish it will paint best at. You need to own the image or have permission to use it. See paintings from your own image.

How long does hotel art take to reach Dubai or Abu Dhabi?

About 10 days to paint, then 5–7 days by DHL, FedEx or UPS express to Dubai, Abu Dhabi or any other emirate. Larger orders may travel by air or sea freight instead; we choose the best route for the address and confirm the shipping cost before anything leaves.

How does a hotel pay for an art order?

Half upfront against a proforma invoice, so painting can start, and the other half once you approve the photographs of the finished pieces, before they ship. Each order is priced for its sizes and finishes, and volume pricing starts at ten pieces.

What happens if a canvas arrives damaged?

Damage in transit is rare, under 0.01% of pieces. If it happens, send us photographs; we take it up with the carrier and work out a solution with you, such as a replacement or a refund. Because every piece is painted to order and approved from a photograph before dispatch, finished pieces are not returnable.
