How much office wall art does a headquarters in Qatar need?

More than one statement piece: plan it in tiers, with the boldest work for the lobby and executive floor, one piece for each meeting room and senior office, and a calm series for the typical floors.

The clearest model comes from West Bay. For the Qatar Petroleum (now QatarEnergy) district, nine office towers and an executive tower, the architect describes art in three tiers: primary works for executive areas, secondary works for director-level spaces and tertiary works for the typical floors, with local artists commissioned for the large lobby and CEO-suite pieces. At a smaller scale, Gulf Warehousing Company's regional centre at Ras Bufontas took 29 paintings on canvas in 2021, for its lobby, meeting rooms, leadership offices and other areas.

So count walls, not pictures. Mark every wall a visitor or a team faces and give it a tier: a few large canvases where guests are received, one piece per meeting room and senior office, and on the typical floors a series in one format and palette, so the building reads as one scheme. Ten pieces or more reach volume pricing. See also corporate artwork from reception to boardroom and our Qatar wall art guide.

When should art be chosen in a Doha office fit-out?

At concept stage, alongside the finishes: name the art in the designer's brief, because fit-out contracts in Qatar usually cover the walls but not what hangs on them.

Doha's fit-out contractors sell partitions, wall finishes, furniture and flooring; turnkey firms with medical centres, showrooms and shops in their portfolios often list no artwork among their services. The art falls to the interior designer or to your own team. GWC's canvases came through an interior design firm, after eight weeks of concept work and 20 days of painting: most of the time goes on agreeing walls, sizes and palette, not on the brush.

Many organisations face this now. Qatar Airways chose four interconnected towers in Msheireb Downtown Doha for its new headquarters, and Qatar Tourism is following it to the district. Fix the list of walls while the joinery and lighting are being drawn, so fixings and picture lights land where the art will hang and the canvases are painted while the floor is built. Send us photographs of your finishes too: Msheireb's cream stone and Lusail's glass towers want different palettes. District by district, see our Doha guide.

What size of office wall art fills a lobby in West Bay or Lusail?

Larger than a showroom suggests: under a double-height or taller ceiling, a tall canvas of 2.5 metres or more, a pair, or a set of panels hung as one, with texture rather than loud colour against the marble.

Qatar's corporate lobbies are built to impress. The entrance halls of the QatarEnergy district rise 15 metres, in Italian marble, walnut veneer, bronze, copper and black glass, and the M7 building in Msheireb carries an eight-metre rose by Isa Genzken.

Three rules help. Size from the door: the painting is read from across the hall, so it needs scale and a clear shape more than detail. Let texture do the work of colour: carved plaster and palette-knife relief catch the light without fighting the marble, as the cream ridges on a dark ground do here. And where one canvas would be too large to travel or to reach the wall, a pair or a set of panels hung as one does the same job. Send us the wall, its height and the route into the building, and we suggest the size and format. See the Qatar size guide and office lobby art.

What suits the boardroom and the executive majlis?

One calm, wide piece on the boardroom's main wall, and in the office majlis a panoramic canvas above the seating, hung for guests who are sitting down.

A senior floor in Qatar may keep a majlis beside the boardroom: the QatarEnergy executive tower has its boardroom with a majlis on the twentieth floor. A majlis is planned around seating along the walls, so the art goes in the band above the seating and is read by seated guests; a long horizontal or panoramic canvas, or two or three panels, fits that band better than a tall piece. In the boardroom, give a long side wall one wide work, about two-thirds the length of the table, so the room has a focus away from the screen.

Keep both rooms calm, with abstraction, landscape, sea or geometry. For a verse or a motto, start from a calligrapher's own artwork, used with their permission, and have a native reader check the stage photographs before you approve. Calligraphic painting has a loyal following in Doha: at the city's first calligraphy symposium, most of one painter's canvases sold. Browse boardroom art.

Which subjects suit office wall art in Qatar?

Abstract work that complements the interior comes first, with a local thread of sea, desert, heritage and geometry; nothing explicit, and figures kept out of the reception rooms.

Start from the interior. GWC's painters were told that most canvases had to be abstract, 'complementing the interior decor and incorporating GWC's corporate culture', with a few realistic pieces about its logistics work. Newer programmes add a Qatari thread: Rosewood Doha's works by Qatari artists are 'abstract expressions of desert light or photographic moments drawn from the coast', and the solo shows at Katara in early 2026 were led by heritage. The sea and the dhow, the desert, old Doha's architecture and the black, white, brown, beige and red bands of Al Sadu weaving give an office a sense of place.

Some subjects need care. Paintings of people were historically rare in Qatar, where calligraphy, architecture and textiles were valued more, so figures sit less easily than abstraction in a reception area, and public display rules out nudity: in 2013 two ancient Greek nude statues were withdrawn from a Doha exhibition. Qatar maroon, the national colour, makes a strong accent used as one note in the scheme. More in Qatar taste and styles.

Can office art in Qatar tell your company's own story?

Yes: send us your logo, crest or brand pattern, a photograph of your building or project, or a subject from your business, and we suggest the size, format and finish it will paint best at.

Companies in Qatar already use art this way. Ooredoo first showed the works from its 'Art and the Mobile' initiative at its own headquarters, and the Workinton coworking space at M7 hangs a life-size MINI Cooper painted by the artist Sheikh Mubarak bin Nasser Al Thani. Qatar Museums' deputy chief executive said in January 2026 that the country still needs 'that commercial driver for art to be stronger': companies that commission now help build it.

A painting can carry your brand without looking like an advertisement: ships for a shipping line, the skyline a developer helped build, a brand pattern worked into an abstract. Send the image with the wall size; we tell you how it will translate to canvas, suggest the size and finish, and paint it by hand once you approve. You need to own the image or have permission, and the design can be kept exclusive to your company if you ask before we start. More on paintings from your own image.

What suits clinics, hospitals and university buildings in Qatar?

Calm, legible pictures of sea, landscape, heritage and nature at seated eye level in waiting areas, and fewer, larger, quieter pieces in the atria of campuses and libraries.

Qatar's health system treats art as part of care. Hamad Medical Corporation has hung floor-to-ceiling images at corridor intersections in three hospitals, on anti-bacterial, fire-resistant material with Arabic and English labels, and the health minister said in 2023 that art 'can transform stark clinical environments into compassionate care spaces'. A 2021 donation of 140 works to HMC showed Qatari heritage, marine life and wildlife, each sized to its location.

For a clinic or private hospital, that suggests calm pictures of sea, landscape, flowers and heritage, hung at seated eye level in waiting rooms. Ask the facilities team early what the corridors require, and hang canvases in waiting, consultation and staff rooms, where they need only dusting with a dry cloth. Campuses work at a larger scale: Education City has more than 150 publicly available artworks, and Qatar National Library's foyer holds a magenta calligraphic work by Ramin Shirdel. How does an office in Qatar order hand-painted art from iHomeArt?

Send the floor plan or photographs of the walls; we propose works and sizes for each tier, paint one sample if you want it, and you approve every stage from photographs before the canvases ship, labelled by floor and room.

Start with a floor plan, the designer's elevations or photographs of the walls with their widths and ceiling heights. We propose works for each tier from some 1,300 catalogue designs, or design pieces for the project to its budget, and your quote, priced for your sizes and finishes, usually arrives within one business day. Order one canvas first if the board wants to see the hand; the rest follows in the same palette, checked against it.

Photographs or video of each stage go straight to whoever approves, whether you, the designer or the managing director, and the next stage starts only after a yes. Payment is half against a proforma invoice and half once you approve the final photograph, before shipping. Each canvas is labelled by floor and room on a packing list, and we keep the codes on file for the next floor or office. Qatar's working week runs Sunday to Thursday, so a Friday and Saturday hang lets the floor open on Sunday with its walls finished.

Each canvas can travel stretched and ready to hang, framed, or rolled; a rolled canvas, the lightest and most economical way to send a large painting, arrives without stretcher bars, and any local framer can stretch it for you.

Office wall art in Qatar FAQs

How long does office art take to reach Doha or Lusail?

About 10 days to paint, then 5–7 days by DHL, FedEx or UPS express to West Bay, Msheireb, Lusail or any other address in Qatar. Larger orders, such as a whole headquarters, may travel by air or sea freight instead; we find the best route for your address and confirm the shipping cost before anything leaves.

Can the paintings match our marble, carpet or brand colours?

Yes. Send photographs of the stone, fabric, carpet or painted wall taken in daylight, ideally next to a sheet of white paper, and the palette is mixed to them. For brand colours, photograph a printed sample in the same way. You see the colours on the canvas in the stage photographs and approve them before the next stage starts.

Who hangs the paintings in our office?

Your fit-out contractor or facilities team, as with any wall-mounted item. Stretched and framed canvases arrive ready to hang, each labelled with its floor and room and listed on a packing list, so the team can work floor by floor. If you choose rolled canvases, they arrive without stretcher bars and are stretched before hanging.

Do you work with interior designers and fit-out firms in Qatar?

Yes. We paint to the designer's schedule, sizes and palette, room type by room type, with one sample first if the client wants to see it. Stage photographs go to the designer and the client together, so approvals keep pace with the fit-out programme. Art consultants planning a larger scheme can read art production for consultants.

Can we order the same art for branches across Qatar?

Yes. We keep the codes and sizes of every piece on file, so a branch in Al Wakrah, Al Khor or Al Rayyan can carry the same designs and palette as your Doha headquarters. Each branch address is shipped as its own order, and volume pricing starts at ten pieces.

Can we return a painting if the board changes its mind?

Every piece is painted to order and you approve a photograph of the finished canvas before it ships, so finished pieces are not returnable. Damage in transit is rare, under 0.01% of pieces; if it happens, send us photos and we take it up with the carrier and work out a solution with you, such as a replacement or a refund.
