Office wall art in Kuwait, from the company diwaniya to the boardroom
iHomeArt paints office wall art for Kuwait by hand and to order: original canvases for headquarters, bank floors, company diwaniyas, clinics and law firms in Kuwait City and across the country, each one sized to its wall. In a Kuwaiti office the walls that matter most are the diwaniya where guests are received, the reception and the boardroom; this guide shows what each one needs and how to plan a whole floor.

Why does office wall art in Kuwait start with the diwaniya?
Because the diwaniya is where a Kuwaiti chairman or chief executive receives guests, so the wall above its seating is the one every visitor faces: give it the calmest, widest painting in the building.
In Kuwait, much business is still done sitting down. The diwaniya is often called the core of the country's social, business and political life, where ministers, bank chairmen and chief executives receive visitors each week, usually in a U-shaped hall with the elders at its head. Companies build one into their headquarters: Boubyan Bank's new tower has a diwaniya beside its VIP conference and banking areas.
The seating plan decides where the art goes. With sofas along three sides, the head wall behind the host is the one every guest faces, so the main piece belongs there: one wide horizontal canvas, often 2 to 3 metres, or a matched pair, hung just above the sofa backs. One Kuwaiti diwaniya contractor offers classic, modern and Gulf heritage styles, with calligraphy and arabesque in the heritage rooms and grey, beige and white in the modern ones; match the painting to that register.
How large should office wall art be in a Kuwait City lobby or reception?
Size it to the ceiling and to the distance from which a visitor first sees it: a tower lobby needs 2.5 metres of canvas or more, or a three-panel set, while the reception wall of a leased floor is usually held by 150 to 250 cm.
Kuwait City's towers are built to impress at the front door. The National Bank of Kuwait's headquarters in Sharq rises from an 18-metre lobby, and Al Hamra Tower's column-free lobby is 24 metres high, with 7-metre sky lobbies on levels 30 and 55. In rooms like these a canvas under 2 metres reads as a domestic object. Where the budget has gone into light, give the painting another wall: the Central Bank's VIP entrance is held by a 2.4-metre glass chandelier in the bank's own blue.
| Space | What you are working with | A canvas that holds the wall |
|---|---|---|
| Tower lobby or atrium | 18–24 m high, seen first from the entrance doors | 250 cm or more, or a three-panel set |
| Sky lobby or double-height reception | Around 7 m high | 200–300 cm, horizontal |
| Reception on a leased floor | A standard ceiling and the wall behind the desk | 150–250 cm, or a pair |
| Lift lobby on each floor | Seen at close range while people wait | 100–150 cm, one design family on every floor |
Most companies lease floors rather than whole towers, so the wall behind the reception desk is the one to get right. Room-by-room sizes are in the Kuwait size guide; for a building's shared lobby, see office lobby art for landlords.
How many paintings does an office floor in Sharq or Mirqab need?
Count the walls people face, not the square metres: one piece for the reception, one for each meeting room and the boardroom, a series for the executive corridor and a few bolder works for the open-plan areas.
Most of Kuwait's prime office space sits in one corridor of Kuwait City, Sharq, Mirqab and Qibla, where ministries, banks and listed companies keep their headquarters, and the floors there are large: Al Hamra Tower offers about 1,750 m² of leasable space on each. A floor like that has more walls than anyone expects, so plan it as a schedule: each wall with its width, the ceiling height and who sees it.
The boardroom needs fewer pieces than you might think. Even at the Four Seasons Kuwait, whose collection is mostly sculpture and photography, the one painting its design notes name hangs in the boardroom. One strong canvas on the end wall facing the chair does more than several on the sides; measure the room's length first, since the National Bank of Kuwait's boardroom is built around a 13-metre table. In corridors, a series of verticals hung in rhythm reads better than one large piece, and a schedule of ten pieces or more reaches our volume pricing.

Bolder abstract work for the walls teams pass every day, about 120–180 cm, hung where it can be seen from the desks.

A series of verticals in one palette, about 60–90 cm wide, hung in rhythm between the office doors.

What do Kuwait's banks and institutions hang on their walls?
Kuwaiti and Arab modern painting on the walls visitors remember, craft and light built into the architecture, and, at many banks and companies, art supported through exhibitions rather than bought for their own floors.
Kuwait's institutions have collected their own painters for decades. Works by the Kuwaiti modernist Jafar Islah are held by the Arab Fund, the National Bank of Kuwait, Al-Ahli Bank, Kuwait Airways and Alghanim Industries, and the Arab Fund's headquarters in Shuwaikh hangs modern Arab painters around an eight-storey atrium, among carved oak and Moroccan chandeliers. Much of the rest is sponsorship: Kuwait Oil Company co-organises an exhibition that showed 165 artists in 2025, and Kuwait Finance House funds a fine-art training programme.
For a company planning a new floor, that points to a practical mix: a work bought from a Kuwaiti artist, perhaps at an exhibition you support, for the wall with the most visitors, and canvases painted to order in its palette for every other wall, so the floor reads as one scheme.
Which subjects and colours suit office wall art in Kuwait?
Calligraphy, geometry, Sadu pattern, the sea and the desert, in warm sand-and-stone neutrals or the deep blue and gold of formal rooms; leave people out of reception and diwaniya walls.
Kuwait's public buildings treat lettering as architecture: the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Centre builds more than 8,000 m² of calligraphy, sayings of the late Amir, into the cladding of its halls. On an office wall the tradition works best as one statement piece, as a Kuwaiti architect advises for modern interiors. Al Sadu, the Bedouin weaving of repeating red and black bands, is another local language, and a 2026 show at Sadu House had 36 artists reworking its motifs.
The sea runs through Kuwaiti painting, but choose your angle: one Kuwaiti watercolourist has complained of heritage reduced again and again to a tilted pearling boat, so the colour of the Gulf, a stretch of coast or an abstract of water often feels fresher on a company wall. For the palette, local fit-out firms describe warm minimalism in beige, sand and muted clay, and richer rooms in deep blue, emerald and warm gold. More in Kuwait's styles and palettes.
People in public rooms
Many Kuwaiti organisations keep people and animals out of the reception and the diwaniya, and hang figurative work, if at all, in private offices. Settle it in the brief, so no canvas has to be changed at handover.
One piece per wall
Kuwaiti interiors favour one large canvas over a cluster of small frames: it reads from across the room and keeps a formal wall calm.
Can a Kuwaiti company have its logo, its building or a line of calligraphy painted?
Yes: send us the image, whether your logo, a photograph of your building or skyline, or a calligrapher's artwork, and we tell you the size, format and finish it will paint best at.
Kuwaiti institutions like to show their own story: Gulf Bank traced the Kuwaiti dinar since 1961 in an exhibition of 80 pieces. A painting of your founding building, the skyline your boardroom looks out on, or your crest or brand pattern worked into an abstract does the same job every day, on your own wall.
Send it on WhatsApp with the size of the wall: we tell you how it will translate to canvas, suggest a size and finish, and paint it by hand once you are happy. You need to own the image or have permission to use it, and the design can be kept exclusive to your company if you ask before we start. For a verse or a motto, start from a calligrapher's own artwork, used with their permission, and ask a native reader to check the stage photographs before you approve the final one. More on paintings from your own image and cityscapes.
What suits a clinic, a law firm or a client lounge in Kuwait?
Calm, unhurried work in waiting rooms and clinic corridors, and in client lounges a piece with a story; a firm that rotates a featured artist can still hang permanent canvases on every other wall.
Kuwaiti design studios list clinic offices and dental practices among their projects, and new districts such as Hessah Al Mubarak plan medical clinics beside the offices. For a clinic the brief is calm: soft landscapes, the sea, florals and quiet abstraction in blues, greens and warm whites, nothing busy beside the waiting chairs, and a series rather than one-offs, so every corridor feels part of the same place.
Professional firms are freer. One Kuwaiti law firm names a featured artist each year, in 2025 a painter of heritage scenes and Arabian horses, and shows her work in its office all year round. If you work that way, keep one wall for the rotation and give the reception, meeting rooms and corridors permanent canvases in one palette, so the office looks finished between shows. How does an office in Kuwait order hand-painted art from iHomeArt?
Send photos of each wall with its width and ceiling height, or your designer's wall schedule, on WhatsApp or by email, and approve each stage from photographs before the next one begins.
The Kuwaiti design trade already works from photographs: one Kuwaiti interior studio runs its whole service on WhatsApp and email, starting from the client's room photos and measurements. If you have a designer, we paint to their schedule and send the stage photographs straight to whoever approves them. Bring the art in while the joinery goes in: Kuwait's largest interior design fair lists 57 categories of exhibitor, and art is not one of them.
Each canvas is labelled with its floor and position, and local movers offer picture hanging, booked on WhatsApp. The wider picture is in our Kuwait wall art guide.
Each canvas can travel stretched and ready to hang, framed, or rolled; a rolled canvas, the lightest and most economical way to send a large painting, arrives without stretcher bars, and any local framer can stretch it for you.
- Send the wallsPhotos, widths and ceiling heights, or the designer's schedule. Your quote usually follows within one business day.

- Approve each stagePhotographs or video at every stage; the next begins only once you say yes, and the final photograph is approved before dispatch.
- Hang itRolled, stretched or framed as agreed, each canvas marked for its wall and packed with a list.
Office wall art in Kuwait FAQs
Can you paint a copy of a Kuwaiti modern painting for our office?
If the work is still in copyright, we need the rights holder's permission before painting a hand-painted reproduction; with it, we can. Otherwise, send us a photograph of the piece you admire and the size of your wall, and we suggest designs in the same spirit or design a new canvas in its palette for your company.
How far ahead of an office opening should we order the art?
Painting takes about 10 days, then 5–7 days by DHL, FedEx or UPS express to Kuwait City, Salmiya, Fahaheel or anywhere else in Kuwait. Allow time for your approvals at each stage; a large order may go by air or sea freight instead, and we confirm the route and the shipping cost before dispatch. Order while the fit-out is still on site.
Can you supply matching paintings for all our branches in Kuwait?
Yes. We keep the code of every canvas on file, so a new branch, floor or clinic can be painted later to match the first, in the same hand and palette. Each branch address ships as its own order.
What is the largest painting you can make for a lobby in Kuwait?
Send us a photograph of the wall with its width, the ceiling height and how the piece will reach it, by goods lift, stair or loading bay.
How should paintings be looked after in an air-conditioned office?
Hang them out of direct sun, especially near west-facing glass, and away from air-conditioning outlets. Dust them with a dry, soft cloth and never use sprays or cleaning products on the surface. Acrylic on canvas is our standard, and oil paint is available on request.
Can a painting be returned if the board changes its mind?
Every piece is painted to order and you approve a photograph of the finished canvas before it ships, so finished pieces are not returnable. Damage in transit is rare, under 0.01% of pieces; if it happens, send us photos and we take it up with the carrier and work out a solution with you, such as a replacement or a refund.
