White plaster and black line textured canvas painting

A single black line wanders down the whole height of a tall white plaster ground, stepping sideways in a right-angled jog as it passes a small black square.

Behind them sits a soft grey rectangle with a mottled finish, and below it a fainter offset block of off-white barely separates from the ground. The plaster is troweled thick across the whole canvas, with swirls, ridges and hairline cracks visible from across a room. The black square is roughly edged and flecked with white, the line is fine and controlled, and the tension between those two marks is what holds the composition.
