Gold-leaf peak mirrored in a lake at sunset wall painting

A gold mountain rises out of white cloud on the left of the canvas and appears again upside down in a still lake that divides the square almost in half. Between peak and reflection runs a dark belt of pines, rust-red on the left and near black on the right, closed off by a crisp pale line at the water's edge. Orange and slate-grey cloud streaks the sky behind the summit.

The lower half is deliberately softer: the pines blur, the gold breaks into patches and mist drifts across the water. The gold on the peak has a crinkled, granular finish that glints unevenly as the light shifts.
