Ripe persimmons hang in heavy clusters from a dark branch that enters at the upper left, the fruit ranging from pale yellow to deep orange as it cascades down the centre of the canvas. Thin twigs, a few rust-red curled leaves and tiny unripe fruit trail off to either side.

Behind, grey mountain ridges rise and fade in mist like an ink-wash landscape, darker at the foot of the canvas and almost white at the top. The fruit is the only saturated colour, painted round and glossy with soft blending against a ground of washed greys.
