About this painting

A striped hot air balloon floats in a pale cloudy sky, its dusty pink crown giving way to long panels of mint, butter yellow, cream and powder blue that taper to a rose band and a small wicker basket. The balloon fills the upper two-thirds and leans gently right; below it lies open ivory cloud, with a grey-green treetop rising softly from the lower left corner.

Every part of the surface carries a fine swirling ridge of paint, like the weave of old cloth, so the pastel colours catch light and look faintly aged, closer to a faded storybook page than a crisp illustration.

WA#237 is an original wabi-sabi landscape painting showing pastel striped hot air balloon drifting in a soft cloudy sky, hand-painted in acrylic on canvas with a heavily textured impasto surface. It is painted to order in any size; the 14 standard sizes run from 20×24 in (51×61 cm) to 60×80 in (153×203 cm). Painting takes about 10 days and delivery 5–7 days by DHL, FedEx or UPS; the minimum order is one piece.

Where it works

Because the balloon rides high and the lower third is empty cloud, the canvas can hang fairly low, just above a headboard or a hall bench, without anything important being hidden. A warm off-white or soft plaster wall suits it; against stark white the ivory sky looks dull. In a family suite or a child's bedroom it reads as gentle rather than babyish, and in a narrow entrance its upward lift rewards the walk toward it.

Specified for guest room & suite, bedroom, entryway & hallway and living room; it reads as peaceful and uplifting.

These share its palette, format and surface, so the three hang as a set: a run along a hotel corridor, a pair either side of a bed with this one between, or one per suite on the same floor.

Sizes & scale

Width × height. These are the sizes ordered most often; any other size is painted to order, with the composition redrawn to your proportions. A common rule: art about two-thirds the width of the sofa, bed or console beneath it.

What affects the price

Trade prices for WA#237 are quoted per order rather than listed, and come back within one business day. Four things set the figure:

Size
Price follows canvas area. The standard sizes run from 20×24 in to 60×80 in; any other size is quoted the same way.
Finish
Rolled canvas is the lowest-cost way to buy and ship. Stretched, ready to hang, costs more, and a frame costs the most.
Surface
Thick impasto uses more paint and takes longer to dry than flat brushwork, which the price reflects.
Quantity
Volume pricing starts at 10 pieces: the same design for every room on a floor, each one painted individually, or a mix of works.

Shipping is not included in the price; its cost is confirmed with you before the piece ships. Ask for a price on WA#237 on WhatsApp →

Questions buyers ask

Is there a meaning behind the hot air balloon in WA#237?

Balloons are often read as optimism, travel and a light-hearted escape, which is why they suit guest rooms and hotel suites. Here the chalky pastels keep that idea quiet: the picture feels like a daydream about a journey rather than a celebration of one.

What gives the sky in WA#237 its slightly vintage look?

The fine ridged texture and the muted colour. Paint is laid over the whole canvas in small swirling strokes, and the cream and blue are kept soft rather than bright, so the surface breaks light into tiny highlights, much like an old hand-tinted postcard.

Is WA#237 a print or an original painting?

An original. WA#237 is hand-painted in acrylic on canvas when you order it — nothing in the iHomeArt catalogue is printed or held in stock. The photographs show an earlier canvas of the same design, so the brushwork on yours will differ slightly.

Will several copies of WA#237 match across rooms?

They read as a set: every copy is painted from the same composition and palette. Each one is still painted by hand, so the brushwork differs slightly from piece to piece. Progress photos at each stage let you compare them before the next stage starts, and volume pricing begins at 10 pieces.

Will the colours match what I see on screen?

Screens shift colour, so the photographs here are a guide rather than a swatch. You see progress photos or video at each stage and approve a photograph of the finished canvas before it leaves. Moving the palette towards your scheme is normal: send a photo of a paint chip, a fabric swatch or the room on WhatsApp.
