Black ink wash mountain ridges in mist canvas painting

Dark mountain ridges spread across the middle of the canvas like smoke, their edges dissolving into white mist above and below. Black and grey are laid in wet washes handled like ink, so tones bleed and pool, and near the top of the ridge thin vertical runs show where the paint was allowed to drip.

A pocket of white cloud cuts into the lower left, while the darkest mass drops toward the bottom centre before fading out. The upper third and the base are left nearly blank, and the surface is flat throughout, with all the depth coming from tone.
