Art for hotels and restaurants in Bahrain, from Bahrain Bay to Adliya
iHomeArt paints art for hotels and restaurants in Bahrain by hand and to order: original canvases for lobbies, guest rooms, residences, event foyers and dining rooms in Manama, Muharraq and on the resort coast, sized to each wall. Many new hotels here are part hotel, part residence, and the best of them tell an island's story of sea and pearls; this page turns both into an art plan.

Sea, pearls or desert: what should art for hotels in Bahrain be about?
The sea and what Bahrain made of it, from pearling and dhows to palms, Dilmun and old coral-stone walls, in Gulf blue, sand and gold; the desert scenes of generic 'Arabian' décor tell someone else's story.
Bahrain tells its story as a maritime one: its pre-oil identity is framed around pearl divers, goldsmiths and trading ports, and the 'Made in Bahrain' shop in Bab Al Bahrain Souq sells teak models of the banoosh pearling boat and the boom trading dhow. Four Seasons Bahrain Bay follows the same thread, with interiors drawn from luxury sea voyages and a collection of Bahraini art that includes ceramic tiles of the ancient Dilmun culture by Huda Al Saie.
That gives a hotel brief three registers that read as Bahraini rather than generically Gulf: the sea, in turquoise, deep blue and white; heritage, through pearls, dhows, palms and the coral-stone textures and mashrabiya patterns designers already use here; and abstraction in sand, bronze and gold, the path Shaikh Rashid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa took as a painter, from desert and sea landscapes to geometric reliefs drawn from Bahrain's architecture. More in Bahrain taste and styles, or start with the catalogue's seascapes.
Who buys the art for a hotel in Bahrain?
Usually the interior designer, often a studio in Dubai, with a Manama fit-out contractor buying furniture and finishes to the designer's schedule; art falls between the two, so name one person to own it from the start.
Many of Bahrain's flagship interiors are drawn abroad. Dubai's LW Design lists the Conrad Bahrain Financial Harbour as winner of Best Hotel Lobby Design at the 2025 CID Hospitality Awards, and Dubai's DZ Design was shortlisted at the 2025 CID MENA awards for The District at Al Seef. Manama has its own practices, such as International Design Associates, which designed the interiors of the Avani Bilaj Al Jazayer resort, and fit-out firms such as Kooheji Interiors, which counts the Conrad among its projects.
Art is the line nobody lists: a dozen Bahrain design and fit-out websites cover furniture, joinery and procurement, and none mentions art sourcing. So it falls to the lead designer, a consultant on a flagship, or the owner late in the fit-out, when the budget is spent and the walls are fixed. Decide who owns the art at concept stage, while sizes can still be set with the joinery; if you buy to a specification, see art for FF&E buyers.

Should the lobby of a hotel in Bahrain hang a Bahraini artist?
For the one wall every guest remembers, often yes: Bahrain has hung its own painters where travellers pass since the 1970s, so let that piece set the palette and have the rest of the building painted to order around it.
The painter Abbas Almosawi exhibited inside the Sheraton in Manama in 1977 and again in 1991. The airport terminal that opened in 2021 commissioned paintings from 15 Bahraini artists. The Merchant House, which calls itself Bahrain's first boutique hotel, hangs paintings and graffiti by up-and-coming Bahraini artists from reception to the guest rooms.
A practical split: one work by a Bahraini artist for the lobby or the bar, the piece guests photograph, and canvases painted to order in the same palette for corridors, rooms and apartments, so the building reads as one scheme. The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities keeps a public Artists Directory for finding a painter to commission. If you would like a local artist's painting at another size or as a series, we paint it by hand once whoever holds the rights has given permission. For lobby scale, see hotel lobby art.
Why do Bahrain's new hotels need art for apartments as well as rooms?
Because many of them are part hotel, part residence: a guest room needs one piece that suits every guest, while an apartment is a home with a living wall, a dining wall and a bedroom, lived in for weeks at a time.
Kempinski Bahrain Harbour was announced with 74 guestrooms above 186 branded residences. Hilton Bahrain City Centre in Seef was due to open in December 2025 with 594 studios, suites and penthouses, every one with a full kitchen. Meliá's planned Amwaj Islands property is reported to pair 150 hotel keys with 106 residences.
That calls for two programmes in one order. For the rooms, a single piece above the bed or desk, painted as a short series of compositions in two or three colourways, so a guest who changes floors does not meet the same painting twice. For the apartments, two or three pieces per unit by layout: a larger canvas on the living wall, a horizontal piece by the dining table, something quieter in the bedroom. Long-stay guests live with these walls, so they can carry warmer, more personal subjects than a room that turns over nightly. More on art for serviced apartments.

What restaurant wall art suits Adliya, the malls and the waterfront?
In a stand-alone dining room, one large statement canvas or a run of three; in a chain's mall units, one family of designs painted to each branch's wall; on the waterfront, the sea and the evening light.
In Adliya, Bahrain Tourism promotes Block 338 as a pedestrian quarter of international restaurants, art galleries and boutiques. Gallery 21, a 2,600 m² dining complex in Block 338, describes one of its restaurants as hung with abstract paintings and portraits of famous figures from the Arab world, while Obica in Manama makes its statement with hexagonal mirrors and mother-of-pearl; where a room already has a feature surface like that, give the painting a quieter wall. On the water, Bahrain Harbour lists a rooftop restaurant, a Japanese grill and a café below its towers, rooms where a seascape or a sunset-toned abstract carries the view indoors.
Much of Bahrain's foodservice market belongs to chains: in one market study they hold about half of its value, and malls and other retail locations close to two-fifths. For a group, choose a family of designs once, have each painted to the wall of each branch, and keep the order codes on file for the next opening. See restaurant wall art for groups.
Where does art go in a Bahrain hotel's ballrooms and meeting rooms?
Mostly in the foyers and corridors that guests cross between sessions, at a scale that reads across a crowd, and in meeting rooms on the wall the chairs face rather than the screen wall.
Bahrain's hotels sell events as well as rooms, with MICE named alongside luxury, heritage and beach stays in the tourism minister's plan for the 2024–2026 openings. Four Seasons Bahrain Bay alone has more than 35,000 sq ft of event space, with two ballrooms, four meeting rooms and two boardrooms, and in 2024 Exhibition World Bahrain lined its concourses with landscapes and abstracts by 14 Bahraini artists.
Ballrooms are often partitioned and dimmed for events, so put the budget into the pre-function foyer: one panoramic canvas or a run of tall verticals, at least two metres across in all, that holds its own behind a coffee break for two hundred people. In meeting rooms, hang one calm horizontal piece on the wall the chairs face, away from the screen and the glare of the windows, varying the subject from room to room within one palette. See art for meeting rooms.
Which art suits Bahrain's beach resorts and island hotels?
Lighter and brighter than the city towers, chosen villa by villa rather than repeated down a corridor, and hung indoors, out of direct sun and away from the pool deck.
Many new rooms are going up on the resort coast. Minor Hotels' Tivoli and Avani resorts at Bilaj Al Jazayer, expected in winter 2026 with about 100 and 110 rooms and suites, promise 'Arabian heritage with a contemporary feel' and a 'playful mood' respectively. The Al Areen waterpark resort was planned with 226 rooms, 103 serviced apartments and villas with private pools, and The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain renovated its villas, club rooms and suites in 2024.
A heritage resort suits palms, dhows and textured sand and gold; a family resort can be bright and floral; a villa needs a small set of its own. In bright, humid rooms, keep canvases out of direct sun and dust them with a dry cloth, never a spray. At the next refurbishment, the order codes we keep let you re-order a piece or repaint the set in a new palette. See beach resort art.
How do you order art for hotels and restaurants in Bahrain from iHomeArt?
Send the art schedule or a photo of each wall on WhatsApp; we price every line, paint one sample if you want it, send stage photos to whoever approves, and ship the canvases labelled by room.
Send the designer's drawings, the room schedule, or a photo and the width of each wall. Your quote usually arrives within one business day, with sizes for each space and a shortlist from some 1,300 catalogue designs, or a design made for the property. Order one canvas first as a sample if you like; the rest follows in the same hand. Stage photographs go straight to whoever approves, the designer in Dubai or the owner in Manama, and the next stage starts only on their yes.
Canvases arrive labelled by room, unit or position, with a packing list. DHL's Middle East air network is based at Bahrain International Airport, and its express service reaches business addresses across Manama, Riffa and Muharraq; larger orders may go by air or sea freight, with the shipping cost confirmed before dispatch. January is the busiest month for hotel stays, so aim to hang new art by late autumn. Sizes are in the Bahrain size guide, the overview in the Bahrain wall art guide.
Each canvas can travel stretched and ready to hang, framed, or rolled; a rolled canvas, the lightest and most economical way to send a large painting, arrives without stretcher bars, and any local framer can stretch it for you.
Art for hotels and restaurants in Bahrain FAQs
Can you paint Arabic calligraphy or a hotel's crest for a lobby in Bahrain?
Yes. Send us the image, whether a calligrapher's artwork used with their permission or your hotel's logo, crest or brand pattern, and we suggest the size, format and finish it will paint best at. For a verse or a name, ask a native reader to check the stage photographs before you approve. A design can be kept exclusive to your property on request.
What is the largest painting you can make for a hotel lobby in Manama?
Send us a photo of the wall with its width, the ceiling height and how the piece will reach the room: service lift, stair or loading door.
How long does hotel art take to reach Bahrain?
About 10 days to paint, then 5–7 days by DHL, FedEx or UPS express to Manama, Muharraq, Riffa or a resort on the coast. Larger orders may travel by air or sea freight instead; we choose the best route for your address and confirm the shipping cost before anything leaves.
Will two canvases of the same design look exactly alike?
Close, but not identical: that is the nature of painting by hand. Each canvas is checked against the piece you approved, so colours and composition match across a floor or a restaurant group while the brushwork stays each canvas's own. For variety, the same design can be painted in two or three colourways.
How do hotels and restaurants in Bahrain pay for an art order?
Half upfront against a proforma invoice, so painting can start, and the other half once you approve the photographs of the finished pieces, before they ship. Each order is priced for its sizes and finishes, volume pricing starts at ten pieces, and the minimum order is one canvas, so a single sample room is welcome.
What happens if a canvas arrives damaged at the hotel?
It is rare: under 0.01% of pieces. Send us photos of the canvas and its packaging on arrival; we take it up with the carrier and work out a solution with you, such as a replacement or a refund. Because every piece is painted to order and approved from a photograph before it ships, finished pieces are not returnable.
