About this painting

A gothic cathedral front rises out of blush pink plaster, its rose window, pointed gable and deep arched portal all modelled in relief rather than painted. Every form is built from short vertical knife strokes, so towers, statue niches and buttresses stand in rows like carved figures shoulder to shoulder.

There is no second colour. The architecture is carried entirely by shadow: the ridges are highest around the rose window and portal and thin out towards the base, where a band of smooth blush ground lets the building settle. Up close it is pure texture; step back three or four metres and the facade assembles itself.

TA#436 is an original textured cityscape painting showing blush plaster relief of a gothic cathedral facade, hand-painted in acrylic on canvas with a sculpted relief surface. It is painted to order in any size; the 14 standard sizes run from 20×24 in (51×61 cm) to 60×80 in (153×203 cm). Painting takes about 10 days and delivery 5–7 days by DHL, FedEx or UPS; the minimum order is one piece.

Where it works

Hang it where people approach head-on, such as the far wall of a lobby or entrance corridor, or behind a boutique or gallery counter, so the cathedral resolves as visitors walk towards it. The blush sits easily against pale limewash, polished plaster or honed stone, with oak and brushed brass close by. A single downlight grazing from above deepens the shadow inside the arches, whereas a beam aimed straight on flattens it to almost nothing.

Specified for gallery & retail, lobby & reception, entryway & hallway and living room; it reads as calming and romantic.

These share its palette, format and surface, so the three hang as a set: a run along a hotel corridor, a pair either side of a bed with this one between, or one per suite on the same floor.

Sizes & scale

Width × height. These are the sizes ordered most often; any other size is painted to order, with the composition redrawn to your proportions. A common rule: art about two-thirds the width of the sofa, bed or console beneath it.

What affects the price

Trade prices for TA#436 are quoted per order rather than listed, and come back within one business day. Four things set the figure:

Size
Price follows canvas area. The standard sizes run from 20×24 in to 60×80 in; any other size is quoted the same way.
Finish
Because the surface is not rolled, the choice is between stretched, ready to hang, and stretched in a frame; a frame costs more.
Surface
Sculpted relief is built up in layers with drying time between them, so it costs more than a flat painting of the same size.
Quantity
Volume pricing starts at 10 pieces: the same design for every room on a floor, each one painted individually, or a mix of works.

Shipping is not included in the price; its cost is confirmed with you before the piece ships. Ask for a price on TA#436 on WhatsApp →

Questions buyers ask

Is the cathedral in TA#436 a specific building?

No single church is portrayed. The rose window over a gabled portal, the flanking towers and the tiers of statue niches recall the great French gothic west fronts, and the relief stays loose enough to suggest that family of buildings rather than map one stone by stone.

What happens to the blush relief of TA#436 when light comes from one side?

The single pink becomes a range of tones. The upper edge of each knife stroke catches the light while the gaps between them turn dusky rose, and the portal arch and rose window, where the plaster stands highest, throw the deepest shadow and come forward clearly.

Is TA#436 a print or an original painting?

An original. TA#436 is hand-painted in acrylic on canvas when you order it — nothing in the iHomeArt catalogue is printed or held in stock. The photographs show an earlier canvas of the same design, so the brushwork on yours will differ slightly.

Will several copies of TA#436 match across rooms?

They read as a set: every copy is painted from the same composition and palette. Each one is still painted by hand, so the brushwork differs slightly from piece to piece. Progress photos at each stage let you compare them before the next stage starts, and volume pricing begins at 10 pieces.

Will the colours match what I see on screen?

Screens shift colour, so the photographs here are a guide rather than a swatch. You see progress photos or video at each stage and approve a photograph of the finished canvas before it leaves. Moving the palette towards your scheme is normal: send a photo of a paint chip, a fabric swatch or the room on WhatsApp.
