About this painting

A lone figure under a dark umbrella stands in a shaft of lilac light right of centre, while rain in long purple, blue and white streaks pours down the full width of the canvas.

Across the top, knife-laid dots of violet, teal and ochre hang like wet leaves or blurred street lamps, densest on the right. The left third is nearly black, cut by thin vertical drips of magenta and blue. Under the figure the ground shines with reflected gold and turquoise, and the umbrella is speckled with pale dots as if catching the rain. The paint stands up in beads and ridges almost everywhere.

IA#1037 is an original impressionist figurative painting showing figure with an umbrella under dripping purple and blue rain with knife dots, hand-painted in acrylic on canvas with a heavily textured impasto surface. It is painted to order in any size; the 11 standard sizes run from 36×18 in (91×46 cm) to 100×50 in (254×127 cm). Painting takes about 10 days and delivery 5–7 days by DHL, FedEx or UPS; the minimum order is one piece.

Where it works

The near-black left side needs a light wall to frame it; on charcoal paint the canvas loses its edges. Above a long white or grey sofa, or along the back wall of a bar lit low, the lilac shaft turns into the strongest light on the wall after dark. Navy, plum and teal cushions, smoked glass and dark brass all repeat its palette, and a single burnt-orange accent is enough to warm it.

Specified for lobby & reception, gallery & retail, restaurant & bar and living room; it reads as moody and dramatic.

These share its palette, format and surface, so the three hang as a set: a run along a hotel corridor, a pair either side of a bed with this one between, or one per suite on the same floor.

Sizes & scale

Width × height. These are the sizes ordered most often; any other size is painted to order, with the composition redrawn to your proportions. A common rule: art about two-thirds the width of the sofa, bed or console beneath it.

What affects the price

Trade prices for IA#1037 are quoted per order rather than listed, and come back within one business day. Four things set the figure:

Size
Price follows canvas area. The standard sizes run from 36×18 in to 100×50 in; any other size is quoted the same way.
Finish
Rolled canvas is the lowest-cost way to buy and ship. Stretched, ready to hang, costs more, and a frame costs the most.
Surface
Thick impasto uses more paint and takes longer to dry than flat brushwork, which the price reflects.
Quantity
Volume pricing starts at 10 pieces: the same design for every room on a floor, each one painted individually, or a mix of works.

Shipping is not included in the price; its cost is confirmed with you before the piece ships. Ask for a price on IA#1037 on WhatsApp →

Questions buyers ask

Who is the figure under the umbrella in IA#1037?

No one in particular. The figure is a dark silhouette with no face or clothing detail, so viewers fill it in themselves, and that anonymity keeps the mood reflective rather than narrative. Light falls on the umbrella and the wet ground around the feet, not on the figure, which keeps it a shape rather than a portrait.

How do the raised paint dots in IA#1037 look in side light?

Each knife-laid dot along the top and each bead at the end of a drip throws a small shadow, so an adjustable spot angled in from the left or right makes the rain look wet and the canopy almost three-dimensional. Lit flat from above, it relies on colour alone.

Is IA#1037 a print or an original painting?

An original. IA#1037 is hand-painted in acrylic on canvas when you order it — nothing in the iHomeArt catalogue is printed or held in stock. The photographs show an earlier canvas of the same design, so the brushwork on yours will differ slightly.

Will several copies of IA#1037 match across rooms?

They read as a set: every copy is painted from the same composition and palette. Each one is still painted by hand, so the brushwork differs slightly from piece to piece. Progress photos at each stage let you compare them before the next stage starts, and volume pricing begins at 10 pieces.

Will the colours match what I see on screen?

Screens shift colour, so the photographs here are a guide rather than a swatch. You see progress photos or video at each stage and approve a photograph of the finished canvas before it leaves. Moving the palette towards your scheme is normal: send a photo of a paint chip, a fabric swatch or the room on WhatsApp.
