A school of red-and-white koi swims down a clear, stony stream, led by a single all-white fish slipping in from higher up. Through the water you see the streambed itself: rounded brown, ochre and moss-green stones, blurred as if under a moving surface.

The top third changes pace. White blossom and golden, grass-like willow tufts hang over the bank, and the water breaks into white streaks where it rushes in from the upper right. The fish curve as they turn, so the group seems to slide down the canvas towards the bottom edge.
