About this painting

A ginger and cream cat glances back over its shoulder in a blue and gold turban, a single pearl hanging at its ear, in a playful take on the best-known pearl-earring portrait of the Dutch Golden Age. The green eyes are round and glassy, each with a bright catchlight, and long white whiskers fan out across the brown ground.

The pose follows the old master closely: body turned away, ochre robe, white collar and yellow cloth falling down the back to a blue tip. The fur is softly blended, while the turban and robe show broader strokes, so the face stays the sharpest part of the picture.

HA#1156 is an original hyperrealist animal painting showing ginger cat wearing a blue and gold turban with a pearl earring, hand-painted in acrylic on canvas. It is painted to order in any size; the 14 standard sizes run from 20×24 in (51×61 cm) to 60×80 in (153×203 cm). Painting takes about 10 days and delivery 5–7 days by DHL, FedEx or UPS; the minimum order is one piece.

Where it works

The joke lands best where people stop long enough to get it: a cafe or wine bar wall at seated eye level, the wall at a home-office desk that appears behind you on video meetings, a pet boutique counter or a reading corner. The warm brown ground sits well with walnut, leather and mustard or teal upholstery, and a picture light from above makes the face glow as the old portrait does.

Specified for gallery & retail, restaurant & bar, home office and living room; it reads as cozy & warm and uplifting.

These share its palette, format and surface, so the three hang as a set: a run along a hotel corridor, a pair either side of a bed with this one between, or one per suite on the same floor.

Sizes & scale

Width × height. These are the sizes ordered most often; any other size is painted to order, with the composition redrawn to your proportions. A common rule: art about two-thirds the width of the sofa, bed or console beneath it.

What affects the price

Trade prices for HA#1156 are quoted per order rather than listed, and come back within one business day. Four things set the figure:

Size
Price follows canvas area. The standard sizes run from 20×24 in to 60×80 in; any other size is quoted the same way.
Finish
Rolled canvas is the lowest-cost way to buy and ship. Stretched, ready to hang, costs more, and a frame costs the most.
Surface
Flat brushwork takes less paint and time than impasto or relief work of the same size.
Quantity
Volume pricing starts at 10 pieces: the same design for every room on a floor, each one painted individually, or a mix of works.

Shipping is not included in the price; its cost is confirmed with you before the piece ships. Ask for a price on HA#1156 on WhatsApp →

Questions buyers ask

Which famous painting is the cat in HA#1156 based on?

It sends up a celebrated Dutch Golden Age painting from about 1665, in which a young woman in a blue and yellow turban looks back over her shoulder, a large pearl at her ear. The blue band, the hanging yellow cloth, the backward glance and the pearl all survive; only the sitter has changed.

Does the brown background of HA#1156 suit a cool grey room?

It can, though it will read as a warm block. The olive-brown ground and ochre robe carry the warmth, and the blue turban is the bridge: repeat that dusty blue in a cushion or throw and the canvas settles against grey. On cream or white walls it looks richer, more like an old portrait.

Is HA#1156 a print or an original painting?

An original. HA#1156 is hand-painted in acrylic on canvas when you order it — nothing in the iHomeArt catalogue is printed or held in stock. The photographs show an earlier canvas of the same design, so the brushwork on yours will differ slightly.

Will several copies of HA#1156 match across rooms?

They read as a set: every copy is painted from the same composition and palette. Each one is still painted by hand, so the brushwork differs slightly from piece to piece. Progress photos at each stage let you compare them before the next stage starts, and volume pricing begins at 10 pieces.

Will the colours match what I see on screen?

Screens shift colour, so the photographs here are a guide rather than a swatch. You see progress photos or video at each stage and approve a photograph of the finished canvas before it leaves. Moving the palette towards your scheme is normal: send a photo of a paint chip, a fabric swatch or the room on WhatsApp.
