Two blue peacocks share a blossoming branch: one stands tall on a knotted stump at the right, and its long cobalt tail pours down the canvas almost to the bottom edge.

The second bird rests lower on the branch, half hidden behind that sweep of feathers. Every eye spot on the tail is ringed in turquoise and black, and the plumage is painted in fine, hair-like strokes that give the blue a soft, velvety look.
