Office wall art in Oman for banks, ministries, clinics and companies

iHomeArt paints office wall art for Oman by hand and to order: original canvases for the receptions, boardrooms, corridors and majlis rooms of banks, ministries, clinics, schools and company headquarters in Muscat, Sohar, Salalah and across the country, each painted to the size of its wall. The brief that works here is art that reads as Omani, from forts and mountains to silver and calligraphy, sized for tall ground floors and ordered early enough to arrive before the fit-out ends.

Why does office wall art in Oman start on the ground floor?

Low-rise office blocks, a mosque minaret and landscaped roads in Ruwi, Muscat's central business district, with hills behind.
Office blocks in Ruwi, Muscat's business district: the ground floors are the tallest rooms in buildings like these, and their receptions need the largest paintings. Gyanibash, CC BY-SA 3.0

Because it is the tallest room in the building: ground floors on Oman's residential-commercial plots rise 4–4.8 m, so a reception needs about 200–250 cm of canvas, while the office floors above take pieces of 100–150 cm.

Oman's 2017 building-permit rules for residential-commercial plots set the ground floor at an internal height of 4–4.8 m, and the floors above, used as offices or homes, at 2.8–3.4 m. That is why a painting bought for a standard room so often looks lost in a Muscat reception: the wall behind the desk can be nearly five metres high. Measure your own building, then size each space:

SpaceTypical clear heightA painting that holds the wall
Ground-floor reception4–4.8 mOne canvas 200–250 cm wide or tall, or a two- or three-panel set
Lift lobby on an office floor2.8–3.4 mA vertical piece of about 100 × 150 cm, or a pair
Boardroom end wall2.8–3.4 mA horizontal piece 150–200 cm wide
Corridor2.8–3.4 mA series of three to six canvases of one size, 80–120 cm
Private office or clinic waiting room2.8–3.4 m100–150 cm, over the seating or facing the desk

Upstairs the task turns round: many walls of a similar size along a corridor, which read better as one series than as a mix. Hanging heights and inches are in the Oman size guide, and very tall walls in oversized wall art.

What should office wall art in Oman show?

Oman itself, in a contemporary hand: its forts, mountains and sea, its silver, carved doors and geometry, chosen to suit the people who wait in front of the wall.

Oman's own public buildings set the brief. When Muscat International Airport's new terminal opened in 2018, 39 paintings by Omani artists went up on its walls, in styles from expressionism and abstraction to calligraphy, with the Omani Society for Fine Arts taking part to express Omani identity. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth keeps returning to the same sources: an exhibition of Islamic ornament by twelve artists, and 63 works by 47 artists joining Arabic letters with abstraction in October 2025. Visitors to a bank, a ministry or a family company in Muscat read its walls the same way.

‘Contemporary, but recognisably ours’ is a brief any painter can follow. Name the place, the motif or the palette, from the forts, engraved silver, carved doors and gypsum geometry of Omani heritage to the sea and the Hajar, and let the composition be modern; much of Muscat's younger painting is abstract. Keep people and animals out of the rooms the public uses. More on Omani taste and styles.

Should an Omani artist paint the feature wall, and who paints the rest?

For the one wall that speaks for the institution, an Omani artist is often the right choice; the corridors, meeting rooms and offices around it can be painted to order in the same palette.

Omani institutions often turn to their own painters, and not only for permanent pieces. The airport's Primeclass lounge hung three paintings from an Omani painter's series in 2022 to promote Omani artists, and Bank Muscat hosted an exhibition by an Omani painter at its head office in 2012. To meet painters, visit Muscat Art, the fair the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre holds each autumn, which reports more than 200 artists, or approach the Omani Society for Fine Arts, as the airport did.

An artist's work comes at the size the artist chose, and one piece rarely covers a building. A practical split: one work by an Omani artist for the reception or the chairman's wall, perhaps a lit wall kept free for exhibitions, and made-to-order canvases for the corridors, meeting rooms and offices, painted in the palette of that piece so the floors read as one scheme. We paint those from some 1,300 catalogue designs or design them for your project. See also where to buy art in Oman.

Where should the painting hang in a boardroom or a guest majlis?

Where the senior people look: on the end wall the chair faces in a boardroom, and above the seating in a majlis, hung lower than usual because everyone in the room is seated.

In a boardroom, give the strongest piece to the end wall the chair faces, and keep the wall behind the chair quieter, so it does not fight the speaker in meetings, photographs and video calls. A calm horizontal about two-thirds the length of the table suits most rooms; see art for meeting rooms and boardrooms.

If your building has a majlis for receiving guests, plan it as the room is used at home. A traditional majlis seats eight or more on day beds or floor seating, and kahwa is served with the right hand, from the right of the room or starting with the eldest and most distinguished guests, so visitors sit and look at the walls for some time. Hang the painting above the seating, its centre lower than you would place it in a corridor, and choose a panoramic or horizontal format that runs with the seats; on a long majlis wall, 180–250 cm of canvas is a good starting point. Landscape, geometry and abstraction suit the room best.

Can a bank or company have its logo, crest or building painted?

Yes: send us the logo, the crest, a photograph of your building or the pattern of its screens, and we tell you the size, format and finish it will paint best at.

A brand on canvas works best translated rather than copied. Your logo's colours and geometry can become a large abstract for the reception; the pattern of your building's screens, like the mashrabiyas built into Bank Muscat's head office, can run as a series down a corridor; a photograph of the founder's town, its fort or the coast where the business began can become the boardroom landscape. For a motto or a line of poetry, start from a calligrapher's own artwork, used with their permission, and have a native reader check the stage photographs; for a Quranic verse, tell us the room it will hang in.

Send the image on WhatsApp with the wall size, and we tell you how it will translate to canvas and suggest the size, format and finish. You need to own the image or have permission to use it, and the design can be kept exclusive to your organisation if you ask before we start. When should office wall art go into a Muscat fit-out?

At design approval, not at handover: chosen then, the art can be sampled, approved and painted while the contractor is on site, and be ready before the doors open.

One Muscat fit-out firm puts a standard office fit-out at two to four months: three to six weeks of design and approvals, then six to twelve weeks on site. Paintings are often outside the contractor's scope: one Muscat contractor's list of in-house work runs from joinery in wood and gypsum to laminates, for offices, schools and universities, without a word about art. Left to the end, the art is chosen in a hurry from whatever is in stock, at sizes the walls never asked for.

Put it into the brief with the finishes instead. Painting takes about 10 days, then 5–7 days by DHL, FedEx or UPS express, so a set ordered at design approval can be sampled, approved and painted while the site work runs.

  1. Design and approvalsSend the elevations, or photographs of the walls with their sizes. We suggest sizes and a shortlist, or design pieces for the scheme.
  2. One sampleWe paint one canvas first, and you approve it from photographs, with its colours checked against your stone, fabric or paint.
  3. While the site worksThe rest of the set is painted in the same hand, each stage photographed and sent to whoever approves it.
  4. Before handoverThe canvases arrive labelled by floor, room and position, with a packing list, so each one goes on the right wall.

How do banks, ministries and companies in Oman order from iHomeArt?

Like any project purchase: a quote for each piece, a proforma invoice for the first half, stage photographs for whoever approves, and the second half once the final photograph is approved.

An institution's finance team needs paperwork it can follow, and since 2024 Oman's e-commerce rules have asked sellers based in the country to state the delivery date, the delivery method and the return policy up front. We set out the same for every order. Your quote, usually within one business day, lists each piece with its size and finish; half is paid against a proforma invoice so painting can start, and the rest once you approve the photograph of the finished canvas, before it ships.

We arrange shipping on the best route to Muscat, Sohar, Salalah or Nizwa and confirm its cost before dispatch. Because you approve each finished piece, it is not returnable; damage in transit is rare, under 0.01% of pieces, and if it happens we take it up with the carrier and work out a solution with you, such as a replacement or a refund. The wider picture is in the Oman wall art guide.

Each canvas can travel stretched and ready to hang, framed, or rolled; a rolled canvas, the lightest and most economical way to send a large painting, arrives without stretcher bars, and any local framer can stretch it for you.

Office wall art in Oman FAQs

What is the largest painting you can make for an office reception in Oman?

Send us a photograph of the wall with its width, the ceiling height and the way in, by door, stair or lift.

Can you match our corporate colours?

Yes. Send daylight photographs of your colours as they appear in the building, on a painted wall, a fabric or the stone, ideally beside a sheet of white paper, and the palette is mixed to them. You see the colours on the canvas in the stage photographs and approve them before the next stage starts.

Do you work with our interior designer or fit-out contractor?

Yes. We paint to the designer's elevations, sizes and palette, or suggest catalogue designs from their wall schedule, so the art arrives as part of their scheme rather than beside it. Tell us who approves each stage, the designer, the facilities manager or the brand team, and the photographs go straight to them.

Can you paint a copy of a well-known painting for our boardroom?

Yes, by hand: we paint hand-made reproductions at the size your wall needs, and nothing is printed. A work still in copyright needs the rights holder's permission before we start, while many older masterpieces are long out of copyright. Tell us the painting and the wall, and we suggest the size and finish.

Can a small office or clinic order just one painting?

Yes. The minimum order is one piece, so a single canvas for a consulting room in Al Khuwair or a small office in Qurum is welcome, and it can serve as the sample if more follow. Volume pricing starts at ten pieces, for a whole floor, a group of clinics or a branch network.

Can we add matching paintings later, for a new floor or a branch?

Yes. We keep every design's code on file, so a new floor in Muscat or a branch in Sohar or Salalah can re-order the same design, or a companion in the same palette, at the size its own walls need. Each address is quoted and shipped as its own order.

How should paintings be looked after in an air-conditioned office?

Simply. Hang them out of direct sun, away from air-conditioning outlets and off any outside wall that turns damp in the humid months. Acrylic on canvas, our standard, copes well with office conditions; oil is available on request. Dust with a dry cloth and never use sprays or cleaning products on the paint.
