About this painting

Dark slate and moss green are dragged across the canvas in long horizontal layers, pitted and flecked like an old iron door, with a narrow ragged strip of gold running along the very top.

The surface is busiest in the upper half, where pale scratches, tiny white specks and dark pockmarks gather in rows. Just left of centre a soft, greenish bloom glows through the dark as if light were trapped under the paint, and lower down the layers deepen to nearly black. The texture comes from scraping back dry paint rather than piling it up, so the depth lies in the layering, not in tall ridges.

WA#276 is an original wabi-sabi painting showing dark charcoal weathered field like aged slate or a rusted wall with gold-edged top, hand-painted in acrylic on canvas with a heavily textured impasto surface. It is painted to order in any size; the 14 standard sizes run from 20×24 in (51×61 cm) to 60×80 in (153×203 cm). Painting takes about 10 days and delivery 5–7 days by DHL, FedEx or UPS; the minimum order is one piece.

Where it works

Dark canvases recede, so in a lobby choose a large size and give it a pale wall: limestone, ivory plaster or warm grey paint behind the reception desk. A picture light mounted above catches the gold edge first, then spreads down into the green. Ivory boucle, polished nickel and pale oak make the contrast. In a home office, hang it opposite the desk rather than behind it, where its dark surface rests the eyes between screens.

Specified for lobby & reception, gallery & retail, home office and living room; it reads as moody and dramatic.

Sizes & scale

Width × height. These are the sizes ordered most often; any other size is painted to order, with the composition redrawn to your proportions. A common rule: art about two-thirds the width of the sofa, bed or console beneath it.

What affects the price

Trade prices for WA#276 are quoted per order rather than listed, and come back within one business day. Four things set the figure:

Size
Price follows canvas area. The standard sizes run from 20×24 in to 60×80 in; any other size is quoted the same way.
Finish
Rolled canvas is the lowest-cost way to buy and ship. Stretched, ready to hang, costs more, and a frame costs the most.
Surface
Thick impasto uses more paint and takes longer to dry than flat brushwork, which the price reflects.
Quantity
Volume pricing starts at 10 pieces: the same design for every room on a floor, each one painted individually, or a mix of works.

Shipping is not included in the price; its cost is confirmed with you before the piece ships. Ask for a price on WA#276 on WhatsApp →

Questions buyers ask

Why is the gold kept to the top edge of WA#276?

It works like late sun catching the lip of an old stone wall: one thin line of warmth above a dark mass. Kept to the edge, it lifts the canvas without turning it into a decorative gold piece, and it gives brass fittings or bronze hardware nearby something to answer.

What does WA#276 look like in a dim room?

Close to black, with the green bloom and the gold edge doing most of the work. It needs some light on it: a ceiling spot or picture light keeps the moss tones and scratched texture visible after dark. For an unlit corner, a lighter canvas is the better choice.

Is WA#276 a print or an original painting?

An original. WA#276 is hand-painted in acrylic on canvas when you order it — nothing in the iHomeArt catalogue is printed or held in stock. The photographs show an earlier canvas of the same design, so the brushwork on yours will differ slightly.

Will several copies of WA#276 match across rooms?

They read as a set: every copy is painted from the same composition and palette. Each one is still painted by hand, so the brushwork differs slightly from piece to piece. Progress photos at each stage let you compare them before the next stage starts, and volume pricing begins at 10 pieces.

Will the colours match what I see on screen?

Screens shift colour, so the photographs here are a guide rather than a swatch. You see progress photos or video at each stage and approve a photograph of the finished canvas before it leaves. Moving the palette towards your scheme is normal: send a photo of a paint chip, a fabric swatch or the room on WhatsApp.
