Seven small black birds cross the upper part of a pale cream canvas, scattered above and below a single dark sweep that cuts across it like a gust of wind. Each bird is one or two quick strokes with a thin trailing tail. The sweep starts at the left edge as dry, split strokes and thickens into a dense, spattered knot just right of centre before thinning out.

Below it, more than half the canvas is left nearly empty, brushed with faint grey-green streaks and flecks, like snow blown over a slope. That open field matters as much as the birds.
