About this painting

Two crusted bands of slate-blue rock press in from the top and bottom of the canvas, and between them a smooth sage-grey gap opens like a clearing in cloud.

The rock is built thick and gritty in layers, with white seams running sideways through it like mineral veins, and its inner edges are torn and crumbly, as if the stone had split apart. The central band is the opposite: flat, quiet, one grey-green with no marks at all. It swells in the middle and pinches towards the sides, so the opening has the shape of a long lens.

TA#005 is an original textured abstract painting showing heavily sculpted blue-grey rock strata parting around a pale gap, hand-painted in acrylic on canvas with a sculpted relief surface. It is painted to order in any size; the 14 standard sizes run from 20×24 in (51×61 cm) to 60×80 in (153×203 cm). Painting takes about 10 days and delivery 5–7 days by DHL, FedEx or UPS; the minimum order is one piece.

Where it works

Hang it so the smooth band lands at standing eye height; the textured strata then frame the line of sight above and below, where raking light shows the crust best. It suits tall, narrow walls in a treatment suite or a guest bedroom, with grey stone, pale ash and cognac leather. Against black fluted panelling the blue turns lighter and icier; on warm white it reads softer and more grey.

Specified for spa & wellness, guest room & suite, meeting & boardroom and bedroom; it reads as calming and moody.

These share its palette, format and surface, so the three hang as a set: a run along a hotel corridor, a pair either side of a bed with this one between, or one per suite on the same floor.

Sizes & scale

Width × height. These are the sizes ordered most often; any other size is painted to order, with the composition redrawn to your proportions. A common rule: art about two-thirds the width of the sofa, bed or console beneath it.

What affects the price

Trade prices for TA#005 are quoted per order rather than listed, and come back within one business day. Four things set the figure:

Size
Price follows canvas area. The standard sizes run from 20×24 in to 60×80 in; any other size is quoted the same way.
Finish
Because the surface is not rolled, the choice is between stretched, ready to hang, and stretched in a frame; a frame costs more.
Surface
Sculpted relief is built up in layers with drying time between them, so it costs more than a flat painting of the same size.
Quantity
Volume pricing starts at 10 pieces: the same design for every room on a floor, each one painted individually, or a mix of works.

Shipping is not included in the price; its cost is confirmed with you before the piece ships. Ask for a price on TA#005 on WhatsApp →

Questions buyers ask

What gives the blue bands their gritty surface?

A thick sculpted layer with a sand-like grain, built up in ridges and then brushed with lighter blue and white so the crests stand out. It looks like weathered rock or packed ice, and in side light every crumb throws a tiny shadow. It is rough to the touch, so keep it out of reach in busy areas.

Can the canvas be turned upside down?

Yes. The upper and lower strata are close in weight, so there is no fixed sky or ground. As painted, the deeper, darker band is at the top and presses down on the gap; inverted, the weight sits at the base and the composition feels more settled.

Is TA#005 a print or an original painting?

An original. TA#005 is hand-painted in acrylic on canvas when you order it — nothing in the iHomeArt catalogue is printed or held in stock. The photographs show an earlier canvas of the same design, so the brushwork on yours will differ slightly.

Will several copies of TA#005 match across rooms?

They read as a set: every copy is painted from the same composition and palette. Each one is still painted by hand, so the brushwork differs slightly from piece to piece. Progress photos at each stage let you compare them before the next stage starts, and volume pricing begins at 10 pieces.

Will the colours match what I see on screen?

Screens shift colour, so the photographs here are a guide rather than a swatch. You see progress photos or video at each stage and approve a photograph of the finished canvas before it leaves. Moving the palette towards your scheme is normal: send a photo of a paint chip, a fabric swatch or the room on WhatsApp.
