The canvas splits almost in half, soft beige and white blocks on the left and a dense black column on the right, and the couple stand on the seam. Each figure is set against the opposite tone: the black dress against the pale side, the cream body against the dark. Grey rectangles float around them, and a small smear of rust at the cream figure's side is the only warm accent.
