About this painting

A low sun bursts through an arch of green trees near the upper edge and pours a yellow path straight down a still river toward the viewer. Dark trunks lean in from the left bank, the leaves on both sides are dabbed in lime, emerald and moss, and the far bend dissolves into a pale turquoise haze.

Below the halfway line the water darkens from green-gold to deep cobalt, broken by floating flecks of leaf colour and a few small star-shaped glints near the bottom edge. The paint goes on in short raised strokes throughout, built up most where the reflection is brightest.

What are the small star shapes on the water in IA#860?
