Pale grey-green trunks rise through a wood in full summer sun, over a floor of yellow-green leaves, with a few chips of blue sky showing between the branches.

The foliage is painted as hundreds of small, hard-edged leaf shapes in lime, chartreuse and deep green, set side by side like a mosaic rather than blended. Two trunks anchor the scene: a broad, smooth one just right of centre and a black-and-white birch half hidden at the far left. Thin dark twigs cross the middle distance, and darker patches on the ground mark where the canopy closes overhead.
