Six poppies float across the top half of a pale square, crimson, magenta and tangerine, each petal edged with a quick black line. Their thin stems run straight down into a curtain of drips in sky blue and teal, dotted with red, that were left to run so the lower half looks rained on.

The ground is off-white, with soft grey blocks brushed in along the top and a charcoal smudge behind the small bud at the upper right that makes its orange glow. Paint stays thin and fluid throughout: the liveliness comes from dribbles, splatter and loose outlines, not from any built-up surface.
