Two dark birds meet across a pale cream band, one hanging head-down from the top edge and one rising from the bottom, their beaks pointing opposite ways.

Each is a black-brown silhouette with a pale grey-blue eye, and its wings spread into a huge rounded fan that fills half the square. The wings are hundreds of fine wavy black lines over red, coral and orange, curving like wood grain so the colour ripples. A dark stripe for each body runs straight to the canvas edge, splitting each fan in two. The paint is flat; the only quiet area is the lightly mottled strip between the heads.
