About this painting

A brown acoustic guitar leans across a stoneware jug of olive palm leaves, while a tumbler of iced drink and a stoppered green bottle stand on a ledge behind, all under a pale full moon.

Everything is flattened into interlocking slabs of terracotta, rust, sand and a little slate blue, in the cubist manner of a cafe table seen from several sides at once. The jug is the most decorated object, with a fan of cream petals and a ring of dots around its belly. Paint is laid flat and matte, then lightly speckled with pale flecks, which gives the moon and the background slabs a stony, fresco-like look.
