About this painting

A broad arc of grey and white swings down from the top left corner of the square, with a band of broken gold riding along its crest. From the right edge a second, darker band of black and gold pushes in and tucks beneath the arc about a third of the way down.

Everything else is dry-brushed. Taupe and grey streaks fall vertically in the upper right, and below the crossing pale strokes fan outward, dragged so lightly that the weave of the canvas shows through. The gold is patchy rather than solid, flecked into the grey, so it glints in places instead of sitting as a flat stripe.
