Deep emerald green stippled relief wall painting

Deep emerald green covers every inch of the canvas, worked into thousands of small raised flicks of paint that each catch a pinpoint of light.

There is no image and no horizon. The only movement is tonal: the green lifts a little toward the top edge, sinks to a near-black bottle green at the base, and takes on a cool blue-teal cast in the upper corners. Up close the flicks look like scattered leaves or scales; at a distance they fuse into one dense, glinting surface, closer to cut gemstone than to a picture.

TA#104 is an original textured painting showing single deep emerald green canvas with all-over stippled texture, hand-painted in acrylic on canvas with a heavily textured impasto surface. Since the emerald carries everything, set it on an undemanding wall of warm white, pale stone or light gray plaster: a boardroom finished in charcoal and walnut, say, or a showroom where it hangs alone on a tall partition. Ceiling spots set slightly forward of the canvas make the raised tips sparkle; flat, diffuse light turns it into a calm dark green slab. Being tall, it still reads clearly to someone seated at the opposite end of the table.
