About this painting

A golden-yellow banana leaf stands at the top of a cream canvas, with a white leaf leaning beside it and a deep olive-green leaf sweeping out to the left, all rising from a cluster of thin gold stems at the bottom centre. Pale tan leaves fill the right side and the lower corners, so the three strong colours sit inside a ring of sand tones.

Nothing here is smooth. The ground is scored with short raised strokes, and every leaf carries a carved midrib and veins. A smaller green leaf near the base on the right answers the dark leaf on the left.
