About this painting

Three white daisies climb the canvas on a loose diagonal, each with a heaped yellow centre, while pale peachy pink blossom crowds in around their stems. Broad grey-green leaves curl through the middle in sweeping strokes, edged with a cooler blue-grey. The paint is thick throughout: petals are pulled outward from each centre so their tips stand slightly proud, and the yellow is dabbed on heavily enough to look sculpted.

The top left is the quietest area, a peach-cream haze flecked with small dark marks, which gives the flowers room before the lower half fills with dense pink and violet dots.
