Pastel rainbow hills and winding river canvas painting

A pale aqua river snakes out of the bottom of the canvas and back through a valley of candy-striped hills, narrowing to a thread before it disappears among the far slopes. The foreground fields are magenta, coral, tangerine and violet, the middle ones lime, peach and lemon, and the distant hills fade into powder blue and lilac under a cream sky.

Clumps of dark blue-green cypresses stand on the ridges, the only deep tones in the picture. Each field is blended smoothly from one colour to the next and edged with a fine darker line, giving a flat, gouache-like finish without visible brush ridges.
