White combed arcs and line panels on black textured canvas

White paint has been combed into fine raised lines across a black ground, swirling into concentric rings at the upper left like the rings on the end of a felled trunk.

Toward the lower right, the same combed lines straighten out and run through tilted rectangular panels, each set at its own angle, so the pattern changes from curve to grid as you look down the canvas. Faint grey-blue washes sit inside the lowest panel and the right-hand arc. Black stays open around the ragged outer edge and in thin seams between panels, so each block reads as a separate slab laid over the dark.
