About this painting

A rose-pink current pours from the upper edge and breaks against a diagonal reef of gold running from the upper right towards the lower left corner.

The pink is dragged in long, finely combed strokes that deepen to raspberry at the upper right edge. The gold is laid in thick, flat-topped slabs with the knife, smooth enough to catch light. Below and to the right, ivory and white take over in curved, ridged knife sweeps, some faintly blushed with pink. The heaviest paint runs along the gold and through the white of the lower right, where every stroke leaves a raised edge.

Is AA#858 too pink for a neutral guest suite?

Less than the colour suggests. Rose pink covers most of the upper half, but the lower right is largely ivory and white, and the gold binds the two. With taupe, mushroom or walnut around it, those neutrals take up the white areas and the pink reads as a warm accent.
