About this painting

Wedges of terracotta orange, dusty pink and cream lock together like pieces of cut paper, pinned in place by thick black bars that cross the middle and drop towards the base. Rust-red petal shapes float on peach at upper left, and a white loop at upper right encloses pink and slate-blue triangles.

Lower down the forms stretch into tall stripes of orange, brick and chocolate brown, so the piece feels open at the top and upright at the bottom. The paint is flat and matte, with soft brush marks visible in the orange fields.
