Two figures fold into one another so tightly that it takes a moment to tell whose arm is whose: one tilts back with her face to the sky, the other turns in profile beside her.

Every shape is flat and hard-edged, as if cut from paper in terracotta, coral, dusty pink, peach and cream, with a fine speckle on the matte surface. Navy appears in only two places, the dark hair at the top and a crescent near the middle, anchoring the warm colours. Four long-fingered hands are the detail to find, one resting at a throat, one reaching off the lower right.
