One white magnolia is painted so close up that its petals run off every edge of the square, opening around a tight cluster of gold-brown stamens.

The petals are sculpted in thick, scraped relief with ridged veins, and a fine line of gold runs along each raised edge, separating white from white. Behind them, broad leaves brushed in gold and olive fill the lower right corner, and small gold patches touch the tips of the upper petals.
